@krafticus - Not my highest proof but higher than my average and tilted to you fine sir!!! I’m sure you’ll land on your feet!

@all - Is my first pic with the glasses I arrived upon after no one talked me into my $50 choices! Thank you all for the awesome input…I’m loving where I landed…far cheaper but still virtually non-tipable, still concentrating the nose, etc., and still unique!(I’m not exactly a ‘normal’ kinda guy!)

Upon being blindsided that one is losing their job in 3 weeks, does one drink higher proof or lower proof? Good stuff or stuff you don’t care as much for?

…..asking for a friend…….

:confused
Thats why booze stocks will never be a bad investment. Feeling happy? Have a drink...Feeling sad? Have a drink...

The last couple years at annual retreat for my office, the director hosts a small (30 people!) Scotch tasting. RSVP early, meet in his casita at the resort and get a lesson on the history and regionality of the various styles, with half-ounce tasting pours along the way. The lineup this year (poured from right to left in this order):

...and the first set of pours in progress.

After the "tour", it was an opportunity to sample favorites again or start playing the compare and contrast game. Five hours later, things were winding down, dead soldiers lined up and differing opinions and commentary on the selections were still being discussed, it was time to stumble to our respective rooms:

The Dalmore 12 is already a favorite "every day" whisky, so I was pretty familiar with it, but the others were all new to me. The Aberlour was absolutely remarkable for me and I might have had a couple additional pours as well as the one that killed the bottle.

Who knew a work trip would require a visit to the liquor store after returning home! :ROFLMAO:
