Looks like it’s Buffalo Trace offerings tonight 
I brought the Benchmark, the host grabbed the BT while in South Carolina yesterday and the Saz is leftover from what I brought last time he hosted. There’s a Very Old Barton hidden back left as well 
Edit to add…the consensus from the whiskey drinkers last night was that the Benchmark Bonded was better than the Trace. I had to agree with them although I think the Saz is better than both of them. Opinions of the Sazerac varied amongst the group but everyone knows I’m very biased towards ryes lol

Found them! Damn good hiding spot too 
James E Pepper Barrel Proof Decanter
Nose: Lovely deep vanilla, dark brown sugar, a bit of dark fruit / ripe orchard apples, oak and some barrel char. Rich and sweet.
Palate: Rich vanilla and sugar cookie up front, with a hint of baking spices (nutmeg?). Dry barrel charred oak then ramps up as it finishes.
Finish: meduim to long, dark and dry with tons of oak.

As I’m leaving last night’s cash game, the host hands me this on the way out the door. He says he waited til I left so I wouldn’t feel obligated to open it during the game.
I tried to get him to keep it until next time he hosts and we can crack it then, but he insisted on me keeping this one for myself. He knows this is a favorite and it’s a bottle that we can’t get in our state. This was found down in SC

Reaffirmed …I definitely like this better than BT. The fact that it’s $10 cheaper and much easier to find just sweetens the deal!

I don’t think it’s even close. This one here is even better. Eagle Rare Lite…all it’s missing is the layer of oak on the finish that the extra aging adds. Nose and palate are pretty much spot on matches.

That B523 turns into a monster after it breathes a little. For me, it was the best bottle of 23 until ECBP C923 came along and ruined it for every bottle released last year. The ECBP A124 is really good too. Slightly off typical EC profile but still very recognizable. Solid batch!
