results are Mufreesboro pick, vegas pick, a124, b522

which is great because I have a backup of my favorite, thanks @Pinkdan

nate is very drunk right now hahaha, maybe barrel proof blinds are too much, but damn was that good shit
Heck yeah!!! That’s a killer bottle. I have a backup as well :cool

View attachment 1327412This bottle befuddles me. It’s still very spicy and drinks way hotter than pretty much every batch I’ve had…and I’ve had at least 1 bottle of every batch from its introduction. While this has improved considerably with some room and time to open up since first cracking it, I’m only getting a touch more brown sugar and fruit on the palate but I get none of that on the nose and the finish is pure spice and oak with a slight hint of fruit. The spice is what lingers on seemingly forever.

It’s good but it pales in comparison to any of 2023’s releases.

Considered an A124 pour, but I wanted a guaranteed killer as a followup to the Austin...

Just got my order in at a local shop for this store pick. My son went on the tasting trip to pick it out. Most of the EC store picks I've seen are 8-9 years old. This one is 11! Gotta find time to go get it next week. It's a bit of a drive from where I live.

Always a trade off when more age means less proof. But I’ve never had an EC store pick I didn’t like. Most of them I love.

I'm pretty fortunate when it comes to handling booze and I don't have many "rules", but one of them is not mixing in scotch with other whiskeys. The handful of times I've had a hangover in the past 10 years or so, it was on nights I've mixed scotch with bourbon. I can drink 6 to 8 barrel proof bourbons and be fine the next day, but mixing bourbon with scotch for me is just no bueno lol.

Meanwhile, two of my three best honey holes changed owners in the last year, and that means they both started over from square one, allocation-wise.

Very bitter pill to swallow. It makes no sense to me that the distributors do this—both stores are still selling the same volume they were previously, but because there’re under new ownership, they drop to the bottom of the allocation list. Each was able to consistently get me unicorns at retail.

The second one was especially painful because they got me W12 and WFP regularly, and two Christmas seasons running, ORVW and Lot B. I was slated to get either Pappy 15 or Pappy 20 this past Christmas, but the change of ownership occurred in November, and they immediately lost the allocation that was due to be delivered only a week or two later. :vomit::mad::eek:

They were also one of my sources of purple tops and other Willett unicorns.

It will take them years and years to get back up the list.
