Needed a good food pairing with the Lagavulin. Turns out lobster is not hard to cook! I used a few Ron Swanson quotes as I ate steak and drank whiskey. My wife was mildly annoyed haha!

Four Roses store pics have long been some of my favorite whiskeys. It seems like they are getting harder to find. It was my understanding that they were pulling back on the program though that may be wrong. I don’t know where I heard that. In any case they’ve done a series that are region, rather than store, specific and if I’m to believe these bottles, they’ve done seven for the District.

I’ve seen a bottle at another shop around town. That was way over what I would pay (though I did think about it). These were not bad at all and the fact that they were randoms in a tiny shop that I would’ve never expected them in makes it all the better.

If that Willett 10yr isn’t grabbed first, I’m taking that. Assuming it’s gone, I’d probably take the Woodford Batch Proof. The 2 ECBP Private barrel bundle seems to be a good bang for your buck too.
The Willett would be my first pick, but tbh, I think it is overpriced. Then again, I’m spoiled and I’ve scored several purple tops at $200-275.

I wouldn’t know a fair price for a purple top if I saw it. I based my choice on it being one that I’ll most likely never have an opportunity to buy one again.

$379 really isn’t in my budget either, but since I pay for all of my bottles out of my poker bankroll, I’d make an exception for that. I could swing it but it would make a healthy dent in my “discretionary” funds  :ROFLMAO:

If you’re in NY, stop by and have a pour.

I’ve seen what you drink…you’d have a squatter to deal with  :ROFLMAO:
Ok, two pours.

But back to the purple top pricing, if it was an exceptional purple top bottle, I’d go $350. But $379 and no knowledge of how it drinks? That’s a tough one. I’d rather pick up an Old Carter American for (a lot) less.

That is my go to. They just raised the price here in NC. :confused

I ended up with the Weller. Their picks are always fantastic, and they only go and select their own. This barrel ended up being really short (80 bottles or so) which is why he did the raffle. He ended up putting a few extra bottles on as a customer thank you. He also does a big thank you promo at year end where loyal customers can pick the allocated bottles throughout the year. He saves them until Dec

Found north is $400 on secondary if that helps. I might do that one. Otherwise the OWA 107 SP is solid
Yeah, that was what I was torn on. I wouldn't flip it though.
Funny thing, the rules were only 1 bottle per person, even if your name was picked again. I bought 2 store picks to get 2 tickets. my second ticket was pulled at #10, but was skipped. (he did a video of the ticket picks). I support the 1 per person, but would have been cool to get 2 nice bottles too.

It's sucks this time because you drew two nice draft spots, but I really like this approach as well. And IMHO this is the smartest approach from a business standpoint, you get to reward more of your customers and give them incentive to buy more store picks. I'm assuming there are many more folks that are interested in bottles than bottles available, right?
