This bottle has really changed from how I remember it. Some pretty enjoyable tropical fruit notes in this one
I forgot about a couple of bottles that I left in my trunk a while back. Mrs Baroo had to borrow my car one day shortly after buying them and “discovered” them. She gave me the third degree about hiding bottles from herFound my for sale stash. Hiding in a tote in the basement. I feel relieved. There's some good stuff in there!
My wife doesn't ask. I have her trained up on "now I paid for all these bottles with other bottles that I've sold for profit". Which is true only if I do accounting the way the federal government does accounting.I forgot about a couple of bottles that I left in my trunk a while back. This week’s postal deliveries are a bunch of 5 gallon air tight food prepper buckets, and two bottles of Bulleit Rye 12y. She’s going to scratch her head at both ha.She still asks even though EVERY bottle I buy is with proceeds from my cash game pundits.
Please describe the pour. When doing so, please be as sexy as possible. I think this deserves it.
You did this just to piss me off, didn’t you?!30 doll hairs
How does it compare to Rare Breed at the same price?View attachment 1400027
A blend of 8 and 9 year old 101 from a collection of Jimmy's favorite rickhouses
Color: Just a hue or two darker than standard 101; It's noticeable.
Nose: Slight citrus and dark cherry; nothing overpowers; screams crushable.
Pallate: Noticeably more coplex than 101; but very drinkable and approachable in the classic turkey style. Has that dusty funk note you find in older wild turkeys, albeit a slight one. Dark cherry, molasses and rye spice on the finish
Finish: Surprisingly long for an 8-year. Nice chest hug; a very slight leather/oak to round out the hug.
Overall: AMAZING value. The caveat being that this is coming from someone who thinks Wild Turkey 101 is probably the best value in bourbon when it comes to flavor, consistency and drinkability. Yes - WT releases some amazing bourbons as does everyone else... but few do such classicly rich bourbon like Jimmy does for 30 doll hairs.
Add another 20 for the complexity and finish? Yes. Will happily pay again and I expect I'll pick up a couple more of these bottles for the history alone, but happy to find the juice is well worth 50 bones.
Bones: 50 retail
Value: I would easily pay 75 for this; and would strongly consider at 100. for 50? no brainer.
And is it syrupy sweet like many other more expensive WT offerings? How does it compare to Rare Breed at the same price?
That’s a good question. Rare Breed is my only bottle with a backup for the backup for the backup for the backup. How does it compare to Rare Breed at the same price?
Are you into the High West ryes? I have a bottle from the first year they opened in Utah. Was on vacation and stopped in a liquor store and it was a big deal because they were able to sell a whiskey produced there. I think the date on the bottle is 2006

I got mine for about $20 more than that, which isn’t badJust happened to saw that on social media and I see MWND posted here often so figure someone might be interested in ordering. I like the Jack Daniel’s Rye so far.
