So it Begins... (9 Viewers)

As someone who has tasted the forbidden fruit I will say there is still something about creating your own one of a kind clay set from top to bottom that just can’t be replaced. And sadly not something that we can really do with Paulsons. But someone like @bergs or @H|Q can probably weigh in more on what that feels like. Gotta be amazing.
Weirdly enough someone did that very thing with Paulsons. They are called "Tiger Palace".....let me see if I can find you the link

It stinks for those trying to build tournament sets from the cash chips, but I would imagine the order quantities would reflect it best to build cash sets. Almost like a Chip Room sale in a way that the lower denoms will be much more plentiful than the $1k and up chips.
racks vs. pre-packed sets: Thinking now I would have to (over)buy multiple pre-packaged sets (if even allowed) to make the several custom lineups that I wanted to create.
Probably have tons of leftovers. More than if I would be able to just buy racks.
In advance: promises to never sell/trade any over cost.

What is amazing is I that put my dream sets together w/o considering primary/secondary and it turns out that the denominated tournament set is ALL 2ndary,
the other 2 are all NCV inlays, which if lacking can be combined into a mix-match for one combo tourney or cash instead of 2 sets.
Just one exception is the awesome NCV hotstamp which I can drop.

So compliments to the design team!

Also open selling by the rack really only works with a max profit model imo. Otherwise you get left with odd quantities of random chips.
That's OK
Sell by the rack and profit off of me.
I can't bare to look at incomplete racks.
I am already starting to shake thinking about it.

I see the sales links and the ‘more info coming soon’

But seems some people already know what quantity’s will be sold and set breakdowns etc. did I miss a post or is this back room talk ?

Also how do you get a golden ticket?

I am pretty certain people will put those together at some point... I am envisioning a robust secondary market activity after the chips go on sale and get delivered as people will try to bulk-up some sets and even create other playable sets from scratch.

Initially there will be a 400pc, 600pc, and 1500pc tournament sets that will become available for sale (all hot stamps) and the cash sets will be for $0.25/$0.50, $1/$2, $2/$5 and $5/$10 games (both primary and secondary).

This is a very interesting statement, considering that Paulson clay chips contain much more plastic compounds than CPC chips.
I didn’t man it in a literal sense … just to emphasize how light they feel.

Let’s not forget that CPC has 15 molds in 39mm and two in 44mm.
Paulson essentially GPI has two at least twelve proprietary 39mms and at least another seven non-39mm sized clay molds, including a single at least two 43mm. And all that excludes the countless other molds in their posession that are owned by others and/or no longer used.
^ FYP ^

...it just shocks me how often people ignore molds.
I couldn't have said it better myself. :D

This is a friggin outstanding idea…

Exactly this. Can’t exactly order racks and racks of cash $5k and $25k, comparable to quantities of $5s for example, without setting off even more alarm bells.

Hell I barely got a tourney breakdown of cash denoms myself and I designed the things.

Also open selling by the rack really only works with a max profit model imo. Otherwise you get left with odd quantities of random chips. Also, since I did not design for murder I’m happy to see they aren’t being sold conducive to murder either.

Edit: but I’m still happy and excited to see the murder sets some people do inevitably create with the tigers :)
5% discount if you sign a lifetime non murder agreement.

Just saying, with all your clawses (see what I did there?) I'm at least to 35% off so far! Keep em coming!

Yeah why exactly is that? I'm sure it has been explained by @David Spragg somewhere but I have no idea why it is so impossible to do some of the most popular edgespots like bearclaws for example and create a better yellow.
Can't be completely impossible and if it's "just" expensive how expensive are we talking?
There is no reason for David to go through all this again. Color experiments might cost 10-20k with no real progress. New spots require making new punches with hardened steel.

Someone mentioned above that they make bearclaws by hand? Show me one. I call bs 100%. I know this because he and I discussed this at the convention. Let’s just say I’m in communication with a race engine builder machine shop and leave it at that for now.

Factually correct, of course. But based on what a guy can reasonably track down, I’ll stick with my point.
Anyway, it’s a huge derail. These guys have busted their butts to come up with some pretty significant Paulson THCs here, so I’m gonna try to bow out of the sidetracks.

I was only on the periphery of submitting the order and even that was stressful.

Loading a couple crates into MatB’s van and watching it sag under the weight and then prying open the crates to see GPI boxes was fairly amazing tho.

Okay, I see what you are saying now. Though I’d contend THC chips are only easily obtainable now because of the numerous NAGBs. I think much of the allure to the mold is because initially they were much harder to find
I thought the biggest plus of the mold was that they wouldn’t flea bite as much as RHC, but I think THC generally looks better anyway.

Yeah, they're definitely not as secure as Paulsons. I've had a couple inlays pop out and more than a few are "bubbled"

Still, I like CPC for what it is. Working on a set right now as it happens.
I do feel the quality dropped. I can pick out some of my CPC addons out of a rack of ASMs because some of the edgespots are pitted and there are slight height variations. ASM chips were solid quality 100%. JimB would toss anything that wasn’t up to his specifications into a giant barrel. JM and I rummaged through that on-site during our ASM tour before JimB caught us and hustled us away.
