So it Begins... (3 Viewers)

I've been trying not to answer questions that are borderline fantasy stuff or those that would pull me in a rabbit hole... but against my better judgement...

The policy is: never...not happening... ever...the door/gate to the vault is permanently closed and the bridge is destroyed with a nuclear blast

see above... and people should really REALLY stop making assumptions...

Haha, I get it, and I believe you. I was joking about ordering more. :)

Pretty much what @bergs said...

Practically anyone who has spoken to sales people, senior management, or any decision maker at GPI or Angel in the last few years has walked away with the same exact impression/answer: they have no interest in the consumer market and prefer if we all went away...It's anyone guess if they will ever change their mind, but we've been down this road for multiple NAGBs in the last 7 years already and these conversations are usually by newer members, who understandably may not know all the details of the previous discussion on PCF: No matter what assumptions you make and or what spreadsheet you use, the consumer market for Paulson chips is minuscule compared to their casino business...combine that with all other factors (security, casino complaints, legal/regulatory hassle, etc.), it is next to no chance they would 'willingly' produce chips for the consumer market...

But I am sure this topic will come up again and again after the next NAGB...

I am new here and have admittedly not had a very clear understanding of this, even after reading older threads. This is by far the best explanation of this I have read yet. Thank you. :) (I am going to mentally bookmark this page for future reference)

Just go with it…it’s mostly witchcraft and wizardry.

As we all know, flipping takes various shapes and forms and is practically impossible to stop. But will try very hard to discourage it in this sale...

If there is such a thing as reverse flipping option maybe that’s it or maybe it’s silly.
There are just desperate buyers.

If it’s me I’d open up rack by rack BIN on eBay for Uber max and sell till they quit buying
PCF…. Or patient buyers hold
When it slows down drop the price
Hold the line PCF
So now all the big money is out and overpaid
Now drop the price again on PCF nearing your ideal price and sell sets
Sell till no more buyers and then drop the price another 100$ a rack to your cost plus some profits till it’s all gone
Now tell me how anyone flips a single rack for profit for even a year maybe more.
But that’s considering you saw it’s last order never again and ordered 5000 racks
Me personally I’d have organized financing to run 6000-7000 racks when BTC peaked and run them all $100 a rack over cost

How sweet would one massive Group Buy be?

This one seems to be like half way there, seems like folks will have some access.
I think if you brought in a two million dollar order they would be hard pressed to turn up their nose

Sure are lots of casinos abandoning them for trash ceramic and plastic junk

Haha okay so they found out and are pissed? I’m surprised you don’t sign some time agreement before placing an order?

Thanks for answering our questions. I know everyone is throwing anything and everything out including myself.
I’d assume they knew when they did it
And because they knew it was a one shot one kill deal

But is a massive 300,000+ NAGB/Promotional order the same as a generic consumer market?

Really wish there was a consumer focused company whose chip recipe rivaled TRK or GPI.
Why is CPC not considered as rival? They offer a great product, plenty of spot patterns, good customer service, and ordering from them doesn't have to be a NAGB. In other words, they are a clay poker chip company that is consumer focused.

With sub-optimum colors, harder feel, and lesser weight. Not everybody's cup of tea, and for some, deal-breakers.

Exactly this! Likewise, for most chippers, the brand itself simply doesn't have the 'holy grail' prestige of Paulson or TRK.

Exactly this. I love my CPC set and they do a great service but shuffling a stack of those and then shuffling a stack of leaded TRK or THCs and there is a huge difference.

Is there any chance of tournament sets using the primary or secondary chips?

Yeah. I’m a CPC fan but they are two very different products. All CPC would need to do in a perfect world is add a couple spots and a few color choices, both very expensive or not possible.

Just adding a nice vibrant yellow that didn't look a little green would be so amazing.

I get all that but also easier to get custom chips (for most anyways) and not as costly (mostly). Clearly a lot of people rather spend $500+/rack for Paulson's but I'm wondering if the "thrill of the hunt" i.e. NAGB also plays a roll?

Which spots? I think they offer at least 67. Seems like bear claw would be a welcomed addition and worthwhile investment for them.

They say they do those edge spots by hand. I have no reason to doubt them. If I were selling a chip where I had to insert TWELVE 1/8 inch edge spots by hand, I’m pretty sure I’d be charging $12 per chip.

In all fairness, it's pretty easy to end up north of $5/chip with a CPC set these days too. A level 5 scrown with DG base colour and shaped inlay is already $4.68/chip.

Also, the inlays on CPCs are barely holding on IMO. On samples that I had, I dropped a chip and the inlay popped right out.

that's interesting. I've played all my ASM/CPC sets a lot, splashed many of pots, dropped them on the floor (carpet and LVP), and have never seen an inlay pop out.

Yeah, they're definitely not as secure as Paulsons. I've had a couple inlays pop out and more than a few are "bubbled"

Still, I like CPC for what it is. Working on a set right now as it happens.

Yeah why exactly is that? I'm sure it has been explained by @David Spragg somewhere but I have no idea why it is so impossible to do some of the most popular edgespots like bearclaws for example and create a better yellow.
Can't be completely impossible and if it's "just" expensive how expensive are we talking?

I was playing at your place with one of @MikesDad sets (Nittany Pussy Cats, I think), and one of the inlays poped out when I bet.

I can say that the inlays on CPC chips are VERY easy to remove because there is almost no glue and only the tension of compression holding them in.

I don’t see it as a major issue thought and doesn’t affect my love of CPCs product.
