My new most favoritous

I used to work for Diageo (the company that makes Cuervo). Started with them in an IT internship in college and then part time 2 years in school and full time post graduation.

I have many many many many OMFG moments with hangovers and Cuervo. You don’t know real pain until you’re 21 years old, out drinking Cuervo till 2a, at work at 7:30a, and have to walk through the bottling line to get to the office - where they are bottling Cuervo - and it smells like tequila everywhere.

Boss found me behind the distilling tanks throwing up into a drainage grate. I thought he’d be mad at me - I’d only been there a few months - but he’s like “nice job coming in, hope it was company product, I’ll put you in the back room building PCs all day”.

Ahhhhh college.

Leonard turned me onto Casamigos but I’m digging margaritas and mixed drinks with Herradura.

@Hornet - what was the stuff you had at your house? I took a couple quick shots making Palomas and it was very very good.

I remember the Cuervo hangovers. Had a really bad one in college and I couldn't drink or even think of tequila for about 5 or 6 years. Just mentioning tequila would make my mouth water like it does right before you start throwing up. It was bad. Then I got introduced to good quality sipping tequila and I was back in the game!

I had "Insolito" at a friend's restaurant a week or so back.

As someone with ALL the same horrible cuervo stories from college that have already been told, I was pretty skittish when she brought that bottle out.... (I"m well over 50 - and shitty tequila still scares me?? wtf). Well, that insolito shaken over ice was SOOOOOO incredibly smooth that I thought it had to be watered down. Immediately went out and bought a bottle. Trust me, if you haven't tried this stuff, you can sip it all day long. As a bourbon guy, I have a new appreciation for good tequila...

Man that Cuervo white is lighter fluid.

Its amazing how far tequila has come....at least in many parts of the US. For years, it was Cuervo and sometimes Sauza, or nothing.
Great to see so many great Tequilas in just about every liquor store these days.

I have not been a big straight tequila drinker until my buddy introduced me to Michael Jordons Tequila “CINCORO”. It is fantastic sipped with no chases. Guaranteed crowd pleaser even to tequila snobs
Funny thing. At the poker games the older players seem to migrate towards bourbons while the younger folks migrate towards tequila. The most popular brand is cincoro by far. I am not a huge tequila fan, but this stuff is really good, especially the reposado.

Wowzers! That looks good I need to try that. People from Cali probably take for granted that you live in the land of milk and honey for Tequila. In Canada and elsewhere the higher end good brands or really anything interesting is hard to come by.

I think many of us older folks grew up when the selection of tequila was generally shite. I’ve heard plenty of stories from folks that had one bad night with the cheap stuff turn them off to tequila for life.

That was me until about 20 years ago. Then someone gave a non Cuervo bottle as a gift & then the above pictures happened.

LOL. Well, this tequila thread was started in 2017 by me. It has 4 pages. The whiskey thread was started in 2014 by he who will remain nameless and has over 700 pages. Crazy how much we all love tequila eh? Haha

Anybody have a hookup for Fortaleza Anejo? I haven't looked VERY hard for it yet, and there are some better tequila liquor stores I will still try.

It’s become very hard to find recently. Makes me angry because a year ago it was always stocked, and it is the best value great tequila you can buy!
