Things That Are Bullsh*t (8 Viewers)

Is it too early for a midlife crisis? How do you people know you're in a midlife crisis?

I just officially walked away from a 6 figure job that I spent 5 years building/creating. *JUST* a couple months ago finally got my pay to that level after years of working for free or reduced salary.

My last day is September 30th.

No next steps. No expected opportunities. During historically one of the absolute worst environments for capital investment in my sector and hiring freezes/layoffs constantly for the past 4-5 years.

My decision making may need a bit of improvement.......
Yeah, that sounds more than a bit crisis-y.

Mine was at age 39 - freaked out a little about being "almost 40" but got over myself without any major repercussions like quitting my job or getting divorced. It helped that Mrs. S surprised me that year with a trip to Vegas (even conspired with the CEO of my company to make sure I'd have the time off).

In the list of things in my life that are/were bullshit, my midlife crisis is pretty low.

Oh that just sounds sad, lol.

It was sad. Eventually I returned to poker and found PCF. I’m still warding off depression. Midlife crisis isn’t a funny or even angry thing. So unless you’re at least a little depressed whatever you’re feeling isn’t a midlife crisis.

It’s ok to not have anything to do.
You are not guilty of anything - don’t let people think you are
Enjoy the simpler things - there are more of them than the other shit for sure
Life is only as complicated as the responsibilities you take on - no is always a fine answer, see #2 above

Oh yeah I'm definitely not mid-life crisis. I come from a lower income style upbringing, where crisis is more an every day type event. Lol po' folks ain't got time for mid life crises.

Was maybe trying to help others with a bit of perspective, nothing like making yourself unemployed at 35 with no degree at the height of your career!

Did you find new things to want? If so, what? If not, how did you get over it?

You just have to find/create purpose and goals for yourself. I use this analogy all the time.

When you play Grand Theft Auto first you beat the game. Then you get 100% competition. Then what? You have to make up scenarios/challenges for yourself.

@BarrieJ3 I grew up poor in Alabama. Finished all my schooling at age 30 with 200k in debt and no assets. I don’t take anything I’ve earned for granted.

I will say that ignorance is bliss though.

Wait. Poker is supposed to ward off depression??... Fuuucccccckk

See?! We're perfectly capable of bullshitting without you after all!

Everywhere I go smells like weed now.

I’m all for legalization and support those who want to partake, but good lord I’m sick of the smell.
I’m an occasional weed smoker and I hate smelling it everywhere too. Especially coming out of half the cats that drive by.
I’m also a sometimes cigarette smoker - 1-2 packs per week, but I’ll go days without smoking. And I find second hand smoke really annoying too.
So I might be a hypocrite. But you’re right.

I work in a part of my city that is the only place around here zoned for growing and processing. It's all around me, including multiple building in the complex where I work. If it is above 75 degrees, the smell is incredibly overwhelming.

Also, so many smoke while driving. The smell is overwhelming anytime I am at a red light. All around here. I'm all for legalization, but smoke that shit at home. I don't drink and drive. I drink my whiskey at home.

I guess, if those drunks are breathing their alcohol breath all over you.
They do. Get smashed and then think they have to talk 50 decibels higher and three inches from your face to be heard.

Plus they spill shit everywhere. Literally everywhere

I don't know. I just typically avoid the places drunks go, or I don't invite them to my home... except @Josh Kifer. For some reason.

Whether you smoke or not, green or tobacco, there’s so many solutions these days that don’t have to impact others. In a heavily foottrafficked area? Bring some gummies brah. Get trashed at home first. Don’t force it on others.

That being said, I’m also not in Vegas partying or tailgating with my kids, because I understand some situations are what they are and you’re not gonna escape it.

I personally save my disgust and angst for waitstaff that wear strong/distinctive cologne/perfume. There’s simply no excuse (including ignorance, the foh manager should be smelling and sending people home). Go go gadget old man at clouds!
