Things that make you Happy (1 Viewer)

Sometimes it’s the little things, especially after fasting all morning for a blood draw.

Beer from home and homemade Lukken waffle cookies? Oh hell yeah. These cookies are awesome, even if some of them are overdone (I prefer those, actually). My wife made about 240 cookies tonight. They may make it until morning. I married well...

I fast everyday now, for 20hours. I only eat between noon and 4pm.

I made this change because I’ve developed diabetes, high blood pressure, and I’ve also been suffering from excessive amounts of acid reflux.

Since Nov.7, when I started this crazy diet, I’ve not skipped even one day. I no longer eat breakfast or dinner. Gave up any type of soda drink, smoking, and chocolate bars (which I was addicted to)

It was hard for 3 weeks. Irritated and hungry. Probably bordering hypoglycaemia at times, but I got through it. Wasn’t easy, but I need to eat less to live. We humans eat too much. All these dam meals, killing me. I suppose this can’t work for everyone but it has for me.

The results have been astounding. Without ANY medication, I’ve lowered my overall blood pressure, blood sugar, and dropped 26lbs of weight. I can’t recall the last time I had any reflux.

I’m more happy about this, than anything else in my life right now.

The best part is, it’s not a gimmick or a crash diet. It’s a lifestyle change. It’s sustainable and applicable to everyday life.

I'm working my way towards intermittent fasting, or at least a form of it. I currently try not to eat for a 12 hour period following my last bite or drink for the night. Try to get to 13 hours next month, 14 after, get after it slowly so it sticks.

I just came to the realization that I just eat too much. I don't have the mental capacity to carefully craft every meal to get the exact amount of calories I need, but I can handle watching a clock just fine. I've been at it 2.5 weeks. no major changes weightwise, but I am hungry again, not bloated all the time and I'm sleeping better. I'm curious to see where this can take me.

Making old chips look new…for a stranger that almost sold them for $50.

I've recently started fasting one day a week (two after a meetup :wtf:), and I'm eating "keto-ish" again. So far down 15 lbs and feeling much better than I felt a few weeks ago when I started.

"Keto-ish" because I have a hard time staying strictly keto. There are simply too many high-carb foods that I know I won't give up entirely, and too many meetups where I want a day or two of beer and junk food. So I do planned cheating.

About once every 3-4 weeks, I plan a period between one evening and two days where I let myself eat what I want. Otherwise, I journal every day, keep to my macro targets, and cut myself off between 9 and 10 PM. Most days I don't eat breakfast, so it's kind-of-sort-of IF, but I'm not super strict about it.

I did this several years ago, lost about 120 pounds, and kept it off for a while. Unfortunately, I let my discipline slip and fell back into old, bad habits, and I regained most of the weight. That's why I'm building intentional slippage into the plan now - I want to establish new habits that are easy for me to maintain over the long haul.

I get to see St. Paul and the Broken Bones tomorrow night here in town with my brother who is coming to visit. And then on Saturday our poker league is having our monthly tournament. These things make me happy!!!
