I have that exact shirtRock Chalk Choke Jobbers.
I have that exact shirtRock Chalk Choke Jobbers.
I attended a work event at Duke and one of the players (tall center, transfered from Purdue I think) mentioned that he had a coach tell him that Big 10/12 teams struggle in the tourney because the entire conference plays the same style (vs ACC and Big East where each team plays markedly different - example - Syracuse zone).Don't hate Kansas is #1.
Though I may be wrong. I get all my information about universities from an unknown man wearing dressed as a fuzzy bird.
I get that to a point but to be fair, there’s only one winner each year and since KU is consistently a high ranking any time that they lose it will always be considered an “upset”.I attended a work event at Duke and one of the players (tall center, transfered from Purdue I think) mentioned that he had a coach tell him that Big 10/12 teams struggle in the tourney because the entire conference plays the same style (vs ACC and Big East where each team plays markedly different - example - Syracuse zone).
As a result, come tourney time, some of the Big 10/12 teams don’t really know how to play against other styles played at the highest level (versus other styles in their pre conference games which doesn’t really challenge them skill-wise).
Anyway, I never worry about KU. Until Danny Manning comes back somehow, they’re always a likely upset candidate.
I can’t look it up right now but would be curious how many top 4 seeds have lost before the Sweet 16 and how frequently. It’s great that schools like KU are consistently ranked so high and get top seeds but my sense (perhaps unfounded) is that they squander a lot of these opportunities.I get that to a point but to be fair, there’s only one winner each year and since KU is consistently a high ranking any time that they lose it will always be considered an “upset”.
Here are the teams with multiple championship game appearances and their win/losses in those games since 2000. (I don’t think I missed anyone but correct me if I’m wrong.)
5 (3-2) UNC
4 (4-0) UCONN
4 (2-2) KU
3 (3-0) DUKE
3 (2-1) FLORIDA
2 (2-0) VILLANOVA
2 (1-1) KENTUCKY
2 (0-2) BUTLER
With only one winner and since #2 is just the best loser I dont think KU is much more likely to be considered an “upset” candidate than any of the other usual suspects.
Sure but again, I personally don’t look at that. To me it doesn’t matter if you’re a 1 seed or a 16 seed losing in 1st round or Sweet 16. Ultimately the One winner is all that matters in the NCAA tournamentI can’t look it up right now but would be curious how many top 4 seeds have lost before the Sweet 16 and how frequently. I saw one of those yellow robots up close when I toured Mote Marine in the Sarasota area. They are using them in their attempt to combat the red tide.Gorgeous days at sea! No wonder sailors were superstitious; I feel like I dont deserve this type of weather. My days are at the mercy of the sea. I know its meteorological, atmospheric differences mixed with ocean movements but it feels like a living thing, tough not to personify it.

Shown with an oceanographic robot we use to profile the water column. Send it out into the ocean for months at a time and it samples density, temperature, and pressure at depths which we use to calculate soundspeed and stratification. Hunt For Red October!

Beautiful! Yeah, weve worked with USF and deployed them on both sides of the peninsula. Ocean is a battery, powers an awful lot of processes that affect us.I saw one of those yellow robots up close when I toured Mote Marine in the Sarasota area. She's adorable! Congrats!Babysitting granddaughter!

Invest in some good ice packs buddy - you won’t regret itOpen gym run this morning, first time in literally 4ish years.
Courts are my happy place. Now I’m just “thoughts and prayers” for my knees and back so hopefully I can keep this going.

Was looking at those ice plunge pools too…
Nothing says we are a bunch of middle aged dudes like talking about the best kinds of ice packs for our aching bodies on a Sunday afternoon. They make some pretty sweet cold
plunge setups. I’ve thought about getting a one myself. But a galvanized tub and some ice would certainly be the easiest route.
Man I didn’t stretch or ice once in 30+ years, even post injuries.Nothing says we are a bunch of middle aged dudes like talking about the best kinds of ice packs for our aching bodies on a Sunday afternoon.
