these are beautiful. if you don't mind sharing, what is the inspiration behind the design?

Just was one of the first design I really came up with. Living in the south I love old Magnolias and we always had Magnolia trees & Gardenia bushes around. I grew up down next to the Arkansas River. No great backstory, I just like the name and wanted to have a theme to follow for everything, chips, table, etc... I've played around with a bunch of other designs for card rooms that are all in various stages of development but the Magnolia is my jam.

They look really good.

1) How long have you had them?

2) How have they held up to wear & tear?

looks stellar.... can you share the idea behind this design?

i ask because i am sort of having a difficult time deciding on what i wish for my sets theme to be. seeing others ideas may help me better reflect and finally realize what it is i wish to do.

i appreciate you sharing this info. it better helps me to realize what i need to seek in order to come up with my own theme. (y) :thumbsup:

@dmalhi1

I wanted a vintage theme. Did some searching for night clubs in the 40s and 50s. Stork club was a New York night club that the likes of DiMaggio and other stars frequented. I thought it’s logo looked cool and would work as an inlay design. It’s similar but different. Woody really did some awesome work on it.

now thats interesting in the fact that before I left work today I too was googling up something similar but far more nerdy..... Batman Comics.... the Penguin has a night club he hangs out in called the Iceberg Lounge and I was thinking, "that might make a cool design depending on the artists vision that ends up designing the labels"

I recall someone designed a t-shirt with such an idea last year that I contemplated to purchase but never did. I'm really fascinated by the art deco style that is incorporated into the design.

a quick google image search helped me find the photo actually as well as some others:

1: 7 years. They don't get much play anymore but they did early on. I'd say overall average 2-4 games a year.

2: I haven't seen the 8V's have the bad flaking problem like the original PGI MGK CC's did that were made a year or 2 earlier than the 8V's. And certainly not anything like the original Pharohs CC did, those were really bad. 2 of the colors have flaked lightly after a full night of play, the Pinks & the Whites. Not bad but there will be a little dust, here and there on the felt. None of the other colors do. As far as how well they hold up. I've had 3-4 chips break a chunk off around an edge spot over the 7 years. Not the crumbling I've seen people post, I don't believe any of those are 8V's.

The CC's have gotten better over time, since they are all different it really depends on which Chinese manufacturer made them and what process/materials were used. I feel like these were one of the CC's to have a better composition.

I like this idea or a Gotham themed idea.

@KhoiFish82 are those gear labels?

https://www.pokerchipforum.com/threads/the-khoi-pond.12749/

I found the original thread from when I first got these chips. FYI, whom I bought them from don't carry these particular PGI chips anymore. But if you are specific and prefer the labels I got I guess you can still hit them up. Never done business with gear labels before but I'm sure they do great work given the feed back from the folks on here. Also, I'm sure ABC can accommodate with the labels as well and can have them put on for you which makes life easier for us the consumer.

And they held up well?

Like it. Moarrrr pron... I'm thinking of going a custom pirate set of some kind. Would love to finish this logo but I'd need help with a different clip art for the back ground.... Skull and cross bones? Island? Treasure chest? View attachment 217888

A turtle with Jolly Roger on his back. Not a ninja turtle, a fierce turtle With an eyepatch.
