Are CPC really worth the price? (1 Viewer)

It is pretty common for ladies to get chinaware as a wedding gift and then collect that same set of china for a lifetime. Often these sets can be passed down from generation to generation. I think china is silly (the dishes not the country) but the same idea applies. I can get behind the idea of making a custom set that my kids would play with down the road.

Imagine how cool it would be to inherit a custom set of chips from your pops and still play with them after he passed away. To me that would be pretty damn cool.

I have the same problem with China sets. My wife’s friend gave us a set of Wedgwood for our wedding and I’ve been hooked ever since. I find myself going to the antique market every weekend to look at them.

It’s wonderful if you have kids who would appreciate your chips. It just makes your effort and money worth it. Unfortunately, no one around me gives a dam about poker chips.

I recently received my first CPC set (Lcrown), and can say that CPC chips are definitely worth it!!! I played with Paulson Casino de Isthmus chips for several years, and at the time they were the best chips I played with. I like these CPC Lcrowns better. They stack very well, and feel, sound and handle great! In my humble opinion, these CPC clay chips are far superior to ceramic chips in these regards. They are easily on the same level or better than chips I've played with in many Vegas casinos (strip and downtown).

Also, I agree with many of the posts here regarding the CPC's excellent customer service. It is a great pleasure to work with David Spragg. I'm so happy with this purchase and highly recommend CPC for anyone interested in an elite-level product. This experience has been very gratifying, and I will be placing another order w/ CPC soon, which will be on the Jockey mold. I'm also waiting on a MD-50 (DIASQR) set, which I ordered a couple of months ago.

I haven't handled CPCs so take my opinion with a grain of salt. Strictly from appearance and mold I prefer paulsons.

But for me real casino chips are what is interesting. If a custom set interests you then CPC is the clear choice.
any pr0n? We all love pictures!

that to me is the biggest fault with CPC. They lack a vibrant yellow. If they had that, I would order a third cpc set.
I concur. I know this is an older post, and much has been said about it.

If they could get the yellow color on the Paulson chip (Canary Yellow I believe it is), that would amazing !

CPC DG yellow/ Paulson / CPC Canary:

CPC yellows are definitely a weak spot, although I do like canary.

I gots set of the roulettes for allforcharity, and did a side-by-side with CPC’s. Every color is close except for the yellow.

Did you consider hot stamping the frac? I am just thinking of trying it together with your awesome set!
You read my mind.... My next set will be a complete frac set (.01, .05, .10, .25, etc.), which will be hot stamped (Jockey mold). I need to finalize the hot stamp design w/ J5, and will place the order w/ CPC soon. Hopefully I'll get them by this summer.

I just purchased 1500 ASM/CPC Circle Square mold chips from eBay on Saturday to make a custom Cash & Tournament set. I was planning on buying directly from David at CPC, but for $700 (.47 a chip) when I saw these I could no pass on these. The guy was selling lots of 300 for $140. They saw the felt maybe 15 times and are unlabeled. They look great. The plan is these will be milled and labeled by Gear once artwork is ready. Then custom 60mm DBs and bounty plaques from ABC. Cant wait to get these. These will never be sold once customized. I was willing to pay more to buy CPC chips new and they would of been worth it.

I'm glad those went to a chipper--nice grab!

Customs serve the purpose of fulfilling a need you want. Uniqueness. No one else has these chips but you. It's a luxury purchase, by that I mean they aren't needed but are nice. You can get good chips at amazing prices if the timing is right.

Not only that but you won't have randoms trying to buy off the shelf chips and taking your cash.

Long term equity should be sought in stocks, bonds, CDs etc.

I have stocks for long term use (like Buffett I never sell), an IRA I've maxed for 18 years now, a 401k, gold in a safe and savings separate from that. I'm retiring at 55. My kids will get the majority of it when my wife and I are gone.

Another Forum member bought the rest. The guy had like 300 black, 300 purple, 300 green, 300 red, and 300 white.

Nice grab!

I'll add on again to this thread.

Not only are CPC worth it... I'm in the beginning stages of my 2nd set now. Let there be hotstamps!

EDIT: Oh... and there's always a chance they'll complete your add-on in only about a month and a half. ;)

Christmas came in March. My CPC chips and racks came in today in great condition as they are near mint and were packaged extremely well by the seller. My only issue was like a teenager or college student trying to intercept a report card my wife got home from work earlier and was downstairs when the postman rang the bell. He said these packages are heavy and he didn’t want to leave them outside. There are 400 more chips that I didn’t picture.
