they don’t look like trash. Some of them look very cool. They’re generally an inferior product to inlaid chips, but that’s no reason to shit on people who love them.

So the most common bare minimum set is 200/200/80/20 for $1/5/25/100s
Is 180/200/100/20 or 180/200/80/40 better than 200/200/80/20?

In theory yes but with my OCD I end up with 200/200/100/100 instead more often den not
THC mold can be inserted into a mixed house mold lineup for a particular denom. Any mold for that matter as long as condition and clay is similar.

So far I'm just not seeing the appeal of the Paulson hat and cane chips... there are so many better looking molds out there. I mean, I like them fine and all, and I think I'm going to wind up with a set of solids at some point because I do like the look of the vibrant solid colored chips but so far I'm enjoying the feel and look of the LGKs and mixed ASM/CPC racks from @Spinettis Gaming more than the thc/rhc chips I've acquired so far.
Makes me wonder if there's something I'm missing.

Show us the chip set you're rationalizing this with
.How many leaded THCs have you physically handled? Also it's okay to actually like money, so I'd recommend staying on your current trajectory.

Yeah, that could be what I'm missing, I think all the ones I've handled have been unleaded. Like many others perhaps once I've played with a leaded set I'll see the light. But I do like money...

I landed my grail $25s just recently (Sundance) and it was a bitch and expensive lol. Should have just settled w a THC mold $25. There’s several casino THC molds out there! Judge free zone!

Nostalgia's a great reason, for sure. Poker in general is kind of a big nostalgia thing for me, and I think that bleeds over into poker-related-things too. I think in some ways my desire for the solid starbursts is because they're the closest thing to those crappy bicycle interlocking chips you can get in terms of bright colors and simplicity but still being a good chip. I also think it's how the hat and cane mold looks nicest honestly. Not too busy, just classy and understated.

Now if I were starting out on a limited budget and wanted Tina's, THC would be a very low selection, unless it fit a THC theme.

One of my horrors of life, egg salad. I think I just threw up a little in my mouth just typing those words.
Saying "great starter set for new chippers" for every bike tire THC set that's listed doesn't make sense to me.
I understand they're cheaper, but for someone entering the hobby, I don't feel like this is the kind of set that would be a satisfying introduction.
The irony isn't lost on me however that my first set was bike tire primary PCAs, and now I fully have caught the bug.....
