Controversial Chip & Poker Opinions (15 Viewers)

To better connect with buyers it would be helpful somehow to filter the ads in a more standard fashion.

For example, buyers looking for Tiger Palace chips, needs to search the Sale Ads "Tiger", "Tiger Palace", "TP", etc.
If we could use a pre-selected choice for some of the popular searches (like Tiger Palace, Big Top Poker, etc) , that would be helpful. The down side, is those choices to select must be updated and maintained by someone...Maybe this feature is there and I don't know it or know where to look for it, or sellers don't use it...

That can be done via an advanced search. Pre-selected search terms, as you note, would require maintenance and updating and just seems like a solution in search of a problem. IMO if someone is too lazy and/or incapable of finding TP chips unless they have "Tiger" as a pre-filled entry in a drop-down box, they don't deserve to own any chips anyway. Basically they want someone else doing basic data input/search terms for them. Hard pass.

Wanted and Trade ads were nearly useless before, but now that they are removed from the general Classifieds, they are completely useless. If the problem is too much spam, then limit the bumps to weekly vs. daily.

Make the Classifieds Great Again! (add auctions back too while we're at it :ninja:)
I didn’t either, but good riddance.

The worst part about “wanted” ads is when somebody post chips for sale, agrees to sell them to somebody, then some other guy who posted a wanted for those chips at some point in past gets upset about it.

A little late to the conversation, you can go outside the box and have all 3 palm trees  :ROFLMAO:

I rather halve or give my chips away than bump a sale thread for three pages (w/ zero shit-posting in between).
My personal favorites will always be the "I'm only listing these for this much money because I don't want them to sell".

But.....you listed it for sale. And bumped your thread?

I will say 50% of the unsold item are due to unreasonable bad pricing, 10-15% is due to high ticket/nicke item (thus a very limited pool of buyer) and 30% is due to terrible chip breakdown or mismatched condition.

What percentage would you say are due to them having little gold k stickers on them?

I agree with this. If something I'm selling doesn't sell at the asking price and I don't want to drop the price further, I pull the ad.
Don't get me wrong, I don't mind a little marinating at a certain price, but if I'm selling 300 used TCR RHCs for over a buck a chip and my thread looks like the below and is now on page three, maybe it's time to Old Yeller it.

It’s been referred to here on PCF as a protective outer ring. I’m not sure if that’s its actual intention, but I would guess the majority of chippers prefer the appearance of a chip with an outer ring.
I think it does help protect it, as it provides stability for the edges where as the RHC is thinner and more prone to damage.

I also think it contributes to the sound profiles.

It’s probably just me being uncultured but cali colored sets seem off in my opinion. The vegas colors just feel right for some reason. I'm sure it’s been said before though.
Cur, the adults are talking, please

Vegas standard is for basic bitches with no imagination.

There I said it, Where is my mic drop emoji!!!!! Damn it!

Those Euro guys, I feel bad for them. Once shipping and maybe duties are covered, the chips cost them twice as much.

Allowing a holiday, birthday or anniversary to get in the way of a regularly-scheduled poker game is evidence of a seriously skewed set of priorities. People need to better train friends/family to recognize the difference between right vs. wrong
Our original wedding date interfered with college football so we changed the date to before the season starts. I chose the right woman.

Maybe not twice as much, but yeah, import fees and shipping easily add 20-25%. Personally, I‘ve mostly always looked at those as sunk costs.

Even without adding those, selling internationally comes with other barriers - higher shipping cost for buyers (or seller has to build it into the price) and a not insignificant number of U.S. buyers who have some irrational fear of buying chips internationally.

Hey, I wouldn’t have a fear of buying from a reputable international PCFer. But with the costs of shipping to me, it’s usually not worth it. Though I have had good luck buying cards from Euros.

My favorite will always be sellers collecting a bunch of money under the pretense of shipping items in return and then not only don’t, but also fucks off into the virtual abyss. And upon (finally) re-appearing and picking up right where they left, they also start moralizing over and joking about how other sellers do things, yet hardly ever gets called out on it.

I don’t get it, is it a magic show?
