Joking aside, I have found 3-5 racks of 5s to be the sweet spot in a self dealt game. A set with less than 3 racks of 5s doesn't feel complete for me. More than 6 and I feel like I'm hoarding.

I did this with my Club 72 set - I only ordered 30 $1s per person to make sure my $5 denominations would see play.

Considering this post is followed by multiple pages of opinions on the correct number of 5s and hardly anyone even bothered to say what they’re playing, I think you nailed it. Is there some “standard” blind level I’m not aware of?

Playing microstakes is a ton of fun. That being said, you need atleast 4 racks of 5s for 5cent/10cent. What if your game grows or a whale shows up!?!

Depends on how the games play (e.g. how your players play). I hosted a 25/50c game that played like 1/3 early and 2/5 late. Some of the meetups have had 1/1 games that played like 5/10 PL. I’ve sat at meetup tables where $1s were the workhorse chip for 25/50c.

Know your players and the stakes they’re comfortable with and get quantities appropriately - but forward plan your game too. Can’t go wrong with lots of $1s and $5s. MOAR IS BETTER.

Not OP, but I interpreted it is a security measure. If I create a custom chip set for high stakes I wouldn’t want the design easily available to copy…but…that means no phones/photos at the home games?

Or maybe it is just not wanting something unique to be copied and sold on Alibaba.
