Is it possible to purchase Ewing mold samples?
Yes
(I got a shuffle stack - not sure why I only took a picture of five chips)

Can you please bring back the Roman Mold one last time for the rounders replica?

I can be in for 1000 chip set.
From the years of posts I've seen asking for that, I'm pretty sure there are no usable cups in that mold.

IF it's even possible to get some good specimens pressed the price one would be charged per chip would be egregious.

Yep, molds are wore out. I loved the look of the Roman mold but the feel was a different story for my taste.

I'm not Danny

Haven't heard any updates from the owners, but also have not asked. I toured it. Am not a likely buyer currently. If the right pieces fell into place I'd potentially be a buyer. That being said, I'm optimistic for its future from everything I saw. I hope David & David send out some updated info soon to the forum

Got a custom set ordered in the meantime

I was advised by a longtime business broker that I had no business (ha) buying a company like CPC without either of two critical things
1: manufacturing experience, ability to efficiently run/revamp/modernize a small factory
2: sales experience in the industry... like, who even are the customers? what's the market? how to grow it, or maintain it even? (I have ideas, but none grounded in any real experience being extremely recent to chipping)

I've got a little side project brewing that I'll post about more in depth eventually. Basically high quality product photography of chips, possibly some ASMR-style close-up videos trying to accurately portray differences in sound, maybe some good summaries of the companies, manufacturing processes, etc... I've got super cheap walmart chips, Chinese dreck, then everything from Amazon, samples from the various poker retailers, barrels of casino clays and plastics (many from PCF classifieds!), etc

If it takes off, it'll approximate sales experience or at least chip-enthusiast experience which could give me the right mindset for taking over something like CPC.

Sample chip image is just playing with light. This look can be achieved with a smartphone and two flashlights, plus some string and tape in a dark room.

Did they ever say a price?
If you're interested you can sign the NDA and get their info packet.

Price is a funny thing. They provide their desired number. But I'd guess we'll never know the actual price paid if and when it changes hands. Business valuation is its own world, and the smaller the business the more uhh, creative let's say, pricing becomes. Not a bad thing! It's not all about money, strangely enough. It's just very different from buying a condo or a sports car.

Oh, I'm sure your side project will be a massive success. Love the photo booth and especially the uncropped beaded chain. Based on your logic @Hobbyphilic should be the next owner of CPC.

Appreciate the updates! Sounds like you’ve really thought this through and have a good circle around you. Best of luck with the chipping side project!

Ha, the thought did cross my mind but...

1) I'd have to dress differently. I'm just so comfortable with my cloths now, I couldn't do it. I mean the Apron and gloves, who am I Kronk?
2) It is too reputable. It is too legit. I can't be seen making something that people want. They made the chips for the movie Rounders!
3) I'd need investors. I mean who on earth would give me money to make chips?

(Please understand this post is meant as a fun conversational response, I would be fine wearing gloves... just gloves)

Hiya Hobbyphilic, big fan of your YouTube channel, been a big help getting acquainted all things chipping!

1-you need not dress at all! It's a non-descript factory in suburban Maine! Better yet you can set the dress code to full Hobby-Cozy mode.
2-this I do not understand :)
3-small business financing can be very creative! (not in a shady way, but that too if you wanted to pursue that route!)

Oh I see. I thought there was something novel, like a 1/8 pie or bearclaw chips made by CPC that I missed.

I agree with your point. The last 3 or 4 years have been a golden age for amazing customs to come about from CPC. I'm sure it was by total accident, as my guess is that the changes are a result of different suppliers for the dyes used in the mixing process, but it's no coincidence, IMO, that this coincides with much more vibrant DG Peach, DG Pink, and now as of last year, DG Peacock chips and spot colors. Even the light blue seems so more vibrant than previous iterations.

I am curious as to whether or not GPI would ever consider acquiring CPC. Likely not to run, but to ensure security of their own products and protect for any potential consumer expansion down the road.

But I assume we'll find out more soon regardless.

This would positively be the worst possible outcome. Worse than the doors closing forever.

I’d say 0%, unless Paulson is doing a reverse PCF NAGB with a fake company for a front just to screw with us
