SOLD Jack Detroit Primary and Secondary Early Sale thread - SOLD OUT (6 Viewers)

I am honestly curious as to how many primary 500’s were made available but I doubt that ever becomes public knowledge.

Being a vendor has nothing to do with today’s fiasco. Putting % limits for each denomination is fine, but don’t cancel orders if % is wrong. Just re-adjust.

For me it was place order, 25c out of stock, remove them. Re-calculate, re-enter. $500 out of stock, recalculate, re-enter. $100 out of stock... no point now.

But what leaves a bad taste is not that I didn’t manage to get any, but that the chips will start showing up in the ads from people trying to make profit out of them.

This is probably my last post. Have already requested my account to be deleted. I am sure there are good people in the site(have met and transact with a few), but the bad apples make it a shitty place. Over and out.

You think that lifting percentage restrictions is a better solution, but then complain about flippers?

These sales have been done without percentage limits and as a result, MORE flippers got MORE chips, particularly the hard to get chips.

Is it perfect? No. Is it better? Probably. Don't like it, don't buy the chips.

Maybe @stafil missed this post on page 9...

I don’t believe so. In the past it will just say something like there’s no more inventory for one or more of the chips. You won’t know which ones. You have to resubmit the order without those chips and likely replace them with others to meet limits. It is difficult with this many people for the limited denoms. Invariably people end up posting in the sales thread 30 seconds later stating they got their order in. By the 1 minute mark you start seeing people posting they couldn’t complete their order because some chip denoms are out and that screwed up their whole order plan and now they got nothing etc. then you get lots more of those posts over the next few minutes... it can be frustrating, so I can’t emphasize enough, as others have, be quick as you can, have a back up plan, but probably most importantly, prepare yourself mentally and emotionally to not get the exact order or any chips at all IF you are looking for rarer denoms. That’s gotta be the most important thing not to have your day or week ruined if you don’t get what you want. It’s highly likely to happen to those looking for the coveted denoms. There’s not really a better way, and we all thank Jim for the chance at any of these chips.

We have completed the painstaking job of printing and sorting all of the orders. I have started printing shipping labels. I always do alphabetically starting with the first name A. We will begin shipping tomorrow. It should take me about 4 days. You don't have to ask about combined shipping, that is why we sort them. We will automatically refund any excess shipping. I'm excited to get these in everyone's hands.

I know the system isn't perfect, but we try to do whats best for everyone. We have 3 goals we look at when we try and figure out how to sell them
  1. How do get the chips in the hands of the people who will appreciate them for a reasonable price (not to flippers)
  2. We need to do what's simplest for our processes. It's a lot of orders to handle.
  3. We try to sell an even percentage of the denominations, so we are not stuck with only a couple.

Thanks for your support!!

Jim

Love you, Jim! Keep bringing the chips! We'll keep buying them!

Nope, he put his money on the line to purchase these... He can do what he wants.....

Not sure of the logic here.. Do you mean because he is a vendor? ... your statement can apply to anyone who buys anything.

Even though I got no chips I still like the system.

Unless you change the system to just giving me the chips and I sell them for you and take all the flak. :cautious:

I can see your point... I guess I’m just saying he put in all the work to find the right contacts, make the deal and put up a butt-Ton of money. I am okay with him making a few bucks..

The way I viewed this and previous sales was a "sort of" 1st come first serve basis that needs preparation and luck.
I didn't know the totals Jim acquired, but assumed not all the chips he had would be available today... I considered this a sort of pre sale.
You need to decide if you will go for the rarer denoms and then have backup plans (if desired) if sold out.
I contemplated not going for the rarer chips, but decided it was worth a shot.
I had several contingency spreadsheets so when I (somewhat expectedly) did not get my first couple of attempts through, I would just go for more plentiful/workhorse chips only. I was successful with that order (more plentiful/workhorse chips), but believe that was due to luck as well as preparation.

Yup. Me too. Not sure what everyone else was doing saying they got shut out. Click. Quantity. Checkout. Took me probably 30 seconds. Only thing I missed out on was primary $500’s....which seems to be a recurring theme....

Unfortunately, the site temporarily crashing right in the beginning made it a little harder than just click, click, checkout. I had to refresh many times, which I'm sure many others were doing, compounding the issue...but....I got through, eventually. Same scenario of not shooting for the $500's at that point.

Yep, server lag prevented me from getting access until 2:02, which was just long enough to tank my intended order. Oh well, shit happens, and there will be other chips..... all good.

Thanks for all you do (and have done) for the chipping community, Jim. Can't say it enough times. A true chip angel.

So is it a complete sell out? I'm wondering about trying to pick up a few more if possible.

Yeah Jim @TheChipRoom , I understand the process, sorry I couldn't get chips this time, but appreciate you bringing more chips to market. Hoping the future might bring members only sales ;)

Same here. I didn’t get jack this time, but am very appreciative of the work, effort, and opportunities @TheChipRoom brings us again and again.

Thanks Jim! I already got my shipping notice. Pretty darn fast! Now if I can just get a few more in the add on sale!

Currently available:
$25 GO = ~1700
$25 pri = ~5200
$100 sec = ~2800

My favorite part about Jim’s post....how the #1 item on the list is to get chips in people’s hands that appreciate them at a reasonable price. That’s the same thing as saying, try to minimize flippers taking advantage and capitalizing off the rest.

Hats off, ‘nuff said.

I didn't participate in the buy yesterday but I can't wait for the pron that is forthcoming! Cheers to everyone that participated! @TheChipRoom is the absolute man in my book. I've had many transactions/interactions with him and they've all been stellar. Jim's the genuine article.

@stafil ...later, dude. Our community just got a little stronger now that you won't be around.

I may be brand new to chipping, but I just have to chime in here.

After spending a few months on the forums and browsing the classifieds I would say that 95% of the community here are genuinely really good, fair, honest, and humble people! Obviously there will always be a few outliers but people should really take a step back and put things into perspective once in a while. There are people walking around all over the world who are getting the worst news of their lives today or who may suffer a tragedy in their life. And while this is such an amazing opportunity to purchase mint Paulson chips at an incredibly affordable price, there are other things to get upset or frustrated about when something doesn't go your way. I honestly don't think the majority of people on this forum fall into this category, but it's hard not to feel "sorry for yourself" when you set your mind on something and then something happens that alters that. It happens.

I was drawn to these chips not only because of their beauty, but because my son's name is Jack and thought it would be cool to pass along a set to him one day. I was about to pull the trigger on a 1200 chip order but then just decided I would take what I could get and slowly build the set I wanted for him. While they were not my first choice, I was able to scoop some Primary 25's and Secondary 100's and was just thankful for the opportunity given by @TheChipRoom . I'm also thankful that Jim is going to be having an additional add on sale. And whatever he chooses to release for denominations and whatever he chooses to set the max limit per chip at I will be thankful once again for the opportunity.

Everyone just needs to be grateful and appreciative. Everything else will work itself out.

What a cool gift for your son.

Was ordering only sample sets not allowed? Just got notification my order was canceled. :(
