Ketogenic Way of eating... (5 Viewers)

These are awesome, I always have a pack of these on hand for my weekend breakfast burritos.
The Mission brand is pretty good too, but these are just as good and usually $1.00-$1.50 cheaper.

Make sure you read the label carefully when buying low carb bread substitutes like these. If you do the math (4 calories per gram of carb or protein, 9 calories per gram of fat), sometimes the numbers don't add up. Those can be hidden carbs.

Yup, I do the same (double check labels) with every new recipe I find as well, I find more often then not they're off - sometimes substantially

The only mission low carb tortillas in my store are larger so they're 8 carbs net, I always get these (definitely cheaper too) as every carb counts.

So like 7g - 2g of fiber?

Anyone know what a typical wrap has?

My wife made breakfast burritos for camping that can be frozen and easily heated up on a campfire. I avoided them, but this would've been a good alternative. Will earmark for next year.

A typical taco sized flour tortilla has about 25g of carbs, burrito sized has ~35g. The whole grain or wheat ones are slightly better but not much.

I prefer these:

I'll do lettuce wraps sometimes, and I'll give chard a shot, but I won't call it a burrito. ;)

I love tortillas, and the low carb versions have gotten pretty good.

I like the carb balance Tortillas from mission. Super tasty and 5 net carbs for the large ones. I'm sure they are terrible for you, but probably fine in moderation for a bread like fix

This is an example of why I read labels and check the math.

Calories only come from the three macronutrients: fat, protein, or carbs. This label says 8g protein (32 calories) and 3.5g fat (~32 calories). That means 36 calories from carbs, which would be 9g, not 5g as advertised.

Probably just this

Psa for those of you who haven't tried it. Rebel creamery makes the most amazing keto ice cream ever if grocery stores near you have it. I hardly ever crave sweets anymore but this stuff is amazing. It's made with heavy cream which makes it taste as good or better than regular ice cream and the ingredients are fairly clear (erythritol as sugar). Each pint has 5, 6, or 7 net carbs for the whole container and it takes me 4 or 5 days to eat so 1 carbish per day as a treat occasionally.

I’ve gone thru several pints so far - mint chocolate is my favorite

The mint choc is amazing. Probably my favorite. The butter pecan is also good but it has almost too many pecans. Cookie dough is OK. The straight chocolate was really good. Peanut butter fudge which sounded like it would be my favorite wasn't great. I wish they had a strawberry (if they do I havent seen it)

Defintely will be on the lookout, thanks!

They had strawberry, but Publix no longer carries it - you can ask the manager to see if they will order it.

I took a trip to Publix today...

I tasted a bite of each when I got home. The butter pecan is rich and tasty with lots of pecan. The cookie dough has a strong artificial sweetener flavor that put me off.

Disclaimer: the Cheez-Its are school snacks for the kids, who are decidedly non-keto.

Let it sit at room temp for about 10-15 minutes first and it is much better.

Why did you wait until you got home? Isn’t it acceptable to just lick the lids at the grocery store until you find one you like?
