Ketogenic Way of eating... (2 Viewers)

Weird fact/tip not that it matters in that quantity, red and orange peppers have more sugar and carbs than green.

So I never used any specific diet and just ate whatever I wanted. I was at 215lbs and decided I needed to do something so I started counting my calories and limiting myself. I was able to lose about 45lbs. This was a couple months ago and I've been getting lazy with it so I have gained some weight back but I'd suggest calorie counting to anyone.

I found that out the hard way. That's why I used Carb Master to track macros when I first started... It grades foods and tells you what to limit and what to avoid...

Generally, vegetables the grow underground (like carrots and beets) are not keto friendly.

using the 90 second keto bread i made a fantastic breakfast sandwich.

I added garlic powder and onion powder to the almond flour. After nuking it, i sliced it, sprayed it with pam, toasted it in a pan.

I was eating keto from March 2018 - Jan 2019. Got down from 190lb to 155lb. I stopped and started eating kind of irresponsibly and now I'm back up to 170. GF is has been non stop keto during that time frame and is doing One Meal a Day. she's down from about 190 or more to 150.

I think it's time to get back on the horse.

Avoiding cookie dough based on above recommendations, and I've never been a big fan of vanilla or strawberry ice cream (real strawberries, that's a different story). But the mint chip will become a staple.
To be fair, I complained about the cookie dough, but it was much better after letting it warm up a bit per @k9dr's recommendation.

I finished the container, so it couldn't have been that bad.

I had this happen with peanut butter fudge. It had a weird after taste that magically disappeared after letting it thaw for an extend period, then it was delicious. It has the highest net carbs at 8 per container, but it took me 4 or 5 days to eat it.

Keto isn't magic, and though some will disagree, calories in/calories out do matter.

That said, keto makes it easier for me and many others to eat well and be satisfied on fewer calories. Additionally there are some confirmed health benefits such as reduction of insulin resistance, and others where the science is not settled.

Anyone into the following keto YouTube channels? I found them pretty helpful.

Thomas Delauer (Celebrity Personal Trainer and is all about Keto and Intermittent Fasting) - https://www.youtube.com/user/TheTdelauer

Keto Connect (A couple that have a lot of keto product reviews and some easy recipes) - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCzRYivTpUQ0r2qPPjfLoQiA

"Dr" Eric Berg
(Easily digestible videos that go over a lot of detailed health related topics including keto) - https://www.youtube.com/user/drericberg123

Finally, What I've Learned has some really interesting videos on health and also promotes Keto and OMAD - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCqYPhGiB9tkShZorfgcL2lA/videos

I forgot my keto lunch at home today :/ Where do people go when they have to eat out for lunch?

Subway Steak salad isn't bad in a pinch. Also A&W does a lettuce bun burger quite well imo. Also some specialty burger joints might offer a keto version of some of their burgers.

Dovetailing with @200 Motels' recommendation, I just watched a video on this very thing from Thomas Delauer...

Even if you don't have Carl's Jr. or In N Out near you (I don't), the information is good.

OK, I'm going to do this. Saying it "out loud" to you might make it happen.
I'm fatter than I've ever been, and it's either do something, or buy new bigger clothes :(

I've got about 40 pounds to lose.

So...Monday, I'll get going on Keto. In the mean time, I'll be eating up all of the fresh fruit in my house...I LOVE fresh fruit this time of year. I'll make a trip to the butcher before the end of the weekend, get some good stuff for the week.

Gotta say, it's the IPA that makes me sad just thinking about this journey. My username is not lifta-eggcup. :(

You got this, Mel. Good luck .

When I have done keto like diets in the past, I got my little bit of sugars from fresh berries. Look into that.

Subway Steak salad with extra meat was the winner for me today. Thank you for the recommendation.

You can do it "liftasteak". I am not hating on keto since it absolutely does work. I just want to encourage people to traverse to a sustainable lifestyle change. I forget the stat but something like 80% of people that lose weight gain it all back. And there is a clear reason for this. Anyone can be disciplined for a time period like 3 months or 1 year. However, if we are constantly at war with our true desires then it won't be sustainable and even after we reach our goal we go back to our old habits.
The key is to have a short term and long term goal. I can be hardcore for a week or two but a lifestyle without beer or pastries just isn't going to happen.

What worked wonders for me was starting to walk at lunch. I started going for a 20 minute walk every day and it has really helped to just speed up my metabolism and make me feel like I want to be active and healthy etc. I don't know how much was just in my head but either way it really has helped me stay on the horse.

GO FOR IT!!!

I hit a major plateau recently where I just bounce around in the same 3 pound range. Gunna have to start walking or spinning soon.

I will say, and I may regret this post later, but I don't ever see myself going as high carb ever again, although I will likely relax some at some point. I just feel too much better, and don't have any carb cravings anymore.

I just feel too much better

I'm craving the shit out of a burger, fries, and a two hearted. Honestly. I don't miss the way I would feel the next morning after eating like that. This appears to be helping my diverticulitis a lot!!

Not drinking every night is already helping my snoring.
