Thank God you can't see the Larceny in the pic. That bottle went home as anticipated.

I just poured an Ardberg 5. I think its pretty damn good. Especially for 40 bucks. Its aggressive initially, but I feel like it has a sweet finish. I barely know what I"m talking about with bourbon. With scotch...............who knows!

Have you had the Old Forester 1897 before? Its absolutely one of my favorites. I'm excited too hear your thoughts on it.

I haven’t. I’ve only had the 1920. I’ll try it tonight.

Tasting Noah’s Mill now. It is pretty good. A lot more alcohol on the nose than I was expecting at 114 proof, but really good flavor.

It is fantastic, Bill! Not as bold as the 1920. A little sweeter than I usually like...but not too sweet. I taste vanilla spice and brown sugar. Really good flavor at 100 proof.

I felt like the 1920 is more of a one tone type of pour. I like it. I think the 1897 is a multi layered drink

Definitely multi-layered. I can’t believe that I hadn’t had it before. This is one that I will always keep on hand now. It’s delicious.

It took a surprisingly small amount of bourbon to get me feeling better about my life this evening.

Rabbit Hole Cavehill Bourbon, $55 + tax

" Rabbit Hole Distilling, founded by Kaveh Zamanian, makes its Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey from four grains: 70% corn, 10% malted wheat, 10% honey malted barley, and 10% malted barley. It is aged in toasted and charred new American oak barrels (char #3) and is bottled at 47.5% ABV.

57 people on distiller.com rate it a 3.92 (great alcohol gets 4.00 or more with lots of reviews), and I agree with them. My neck pour was atrocious. It's been about a week, and this pour, my second from the bottle, packs a flavor wallop. Delicious. It's a little more $$ than Rare Breed, which is my measuring stick, and it's right there I think. Good stuff.

Dalmore 12 is great, I was disappointed with the cigar malt though, it did not really live up to the hype I had placed on it.

I, for one, never connected with Dalmore. Glad there's different preferences around.

The only Dalmore I had I would possibly buy again (but not likely) is the King Alex.

Now, if one can find Dalmore from good independent bottlers, that's a different animal altogether, which proves the whisky itself is far from bad per se, only how the distillery bottles it doesn't jive with me. Stressing: just my opinion.

LOL. I can find the Toasted EC everywhere! I'll trade you for a Weller next time.

I highly suggest you buy all of them. I spoke with the Elijah rep today and he confirmed toasted is a seasonal release. One store I went to today was selling it for 160 a bottle and everyone else is out and not getting more
