This is a hard get where I’m from. Chatted up the small independent liquor store owners today and they got it from the back room for me.

Larceny barrel proof and Knob 12 about to disappear from shelves, not that they had much trouble doing that anyway. They are Whisky Advocate’s top 2 for 2020. They put Bulleit Blender’s Select at #4, so that is on my list now too.
I guess the tasters at WA like peanuts...

Nothing crazy but here's today's pickup, stocking up a bit on Christmas presents:

The Ardbeg was #6 on the WA and was on sale too, as was the Larceny. Figured I'd give both a try.

The store owner definitely knows me now - he was like you'rein here quite a bit aren't you? Not sure if that's a good or bad thing....

We chatted a bit about the WA list. Someone came in like an hour before me and cleaned him out of the Knob Creek 12, but he's going to hold a bottle for me if they get more. I'm not a huge fan of their standard offerings but I always seem to enjoy their special releases

I know I can look but which batch of larceny? I didn’t get C because I didn’t enjoy A or B but loaded up on A when it first came out because of the hype.

I haven't had that one, but recently tried the Caol Ila 8 yr and it was very enjoyable. Surprisingly smooth for 58%.
I can't remember much from that night, but I do remember it being pretty smooth. Seeing as I haven't had many single grains before, I do remember the taste being somewhat of a surprise (that's going straight into the Out of Context thread, I know) to my palate.

Also just realised that I posted the wrong screenshot; the bottle of single grain in my hand being about £20 than its single malt brother in the picture.

Henry McKenna 10yr all day. Best bang for your buck!!!
Maybe three years ago. I’ve seen a bottle on a shelf for $100. Yes that was when the hype was high but even now I think they are $40-50.

edit: that comes across probably harsh and not the intent. Just think the hype is higher than the price dictates now (although I still haven’t opened my bottle). Also probably better options at that price point. I agree that back when it was $25-30 probably nothing could beat it.

Got me in the whiskey spirit. Grabbed me something tonight for the decor.

Choices!

I actually took this photo for a friend. He got the 2020 Makers Mark wood experiment limited edition bottle and offered me a sip. I offered sips of these in trade.

Until a couple weeks ago, all my liquor stores had their Dickel BiB just sitting there. Now they are ALL gone. Word got out. Lucky for me I stocked an extra, which I almost never do.

So who has Weller Full Proof they are willing to sell or trade?. I need it to finish my Weller Lineup and plan to make tasting flights for family members as christmas gifts.

Did you find Single Barrell and CYPB? I thought about building the vertical until seeing prices on those

yeah those are out of reach for me and most of the reviews i read for Full Proof have been really good while mixed for the cypb and sb

So I've set some personal goals and milestones for my life in the past week. Steven Covey type stuff, to be more productive, that kind of thing. As I reach these milestones, I've got some readily available bottles that I've never tried that I've got set aside. Some of these are going to take a lot of time to accomplish, so this is several months of effort required to get to some of these.

1: 1792 Full Proof
2: Old Forester 1920
3: Four Roses Small Batch Select Knob Creek 12
4: Rabbit Hole Dareringer
5: Noah's Mill
6: EH Taylor Single Barrel
7: Have not filled this one in yet

Except for the Noah's Mill, I have all of these, unopened, or I can drive 2 minutes and buy them.

Hopefully I'll be celebrating sooner rather than later. That Taylor has been calling to me since I bought it! It's a shame for it to sit there...undrunk...
Quoting myself to say I swiped a Knob 12 today, and replaced the 4R small batch with it in my chart.

Finally had a chance to grab a bottle of this. Great whiskey just a little hot for me had to melt it down with some ice and water.
