Yeah that's a nice/pricey bottle. I'm curious, just because you and @ChaosRock both quoted a similar $450-500 price range on the "secondary" market - how do both of you track these secondary markets?
Secondary whisky groups on fb. At least that’s how I do. Liquor stores that mark up might list it for $800 but you can haggle prices. If yours was a lion crest Hibiki 17 (meaning pre 2001) it might be like $600. The gold box one in my photo is lion crest

I’m in a similar boat, I was gifted a bottle of Louis XIII for my wedding 4 years ago and it just sits in the back top cabinet (not even with the rest of the alcohol collection because I’m afraid I’d get drunk and drink it all without remembering). The value has since gone up and I’m tempted everyday to sell it to local buyers.

If you like cognac, I’d keep it. Louis XIII is great stuff and the bottle is beautiful. Amazing wedding gift btw. You’re gonna feel like shit opening it up for the first time because of the price, but small pours and make it last.

I just picked up a few bottles of Pappy today. Happy Holidays.

Jesus. You win.

Stagg 16 and 17 of the year for my buddy and I. One more coming next week.

Well there's a missed opportunity. New liquor store in town, didn't even think to check their facebook page or follow it. I've stopped in from time to time, but none of these were ever on the shelf:

10/22, Elijah Craig 18 in stock, Old Fitzgerald 14yr BiB in stock, sold at retail
11/5, McKenna BiB in stock, Little Book in stock, sold at retail
11/16, George T Stagg in stock, sold at retail
11/17, Blanton's in stock, sold at retail
11/19, Michter's 10yr bourbon in stock, sold at retail
11/19, Angel's Envy cask strength in stock, sold at retail
12/3, Pappy 12 in stock, sold at retail

Of course they sold out of all of these almost instantly. I would only have been interested in a few.

Once again, where is the E. All of the above button.

Now when you say sold at retail, is it the normal retail prices for these bottles or the crazy marked up prices that liquor stores charge. Pappy 12 is suppose to retails for $80 but you'll probably never find it in the wild. Last time I saw a bottle at a fine liquor store in Napa, it was marked at $1100.

Pappy was $120, maybe $130. No idea what the 2020 Pappy 12 retail price is, but I figured it was close.

Do what I did when presented with racks of mint Bally $1s at the cage. Slip the man a twenty and walk away as calmly as you can. :p
That schedule is haphazard, indicating they get deliveries all week long. They are on my way home from work, so I will just stop in every weekday during bourbon season from now on. They made all their facebook posts around 3:30pm-4pm, so I figure if I'm there at 3pm or so, I have a shot at these. Even if I don't want it, I'm sure one of you degens will buy it from me. That's true for everything I listed except maybe the Angel's Envy Cask Strength 2020, but at $250 I never would have bought/speculated on that anyway.

I’ll check with my local. They do several barrels each year. I’ll see if he is sitting on any OESO.

Is this something you are looking for right away, or in general? I think 4R usually arrives in Spring
Whenever would be fine. I have 9 out of 10 recipes with oeso being the only one I'm missing

I have an interesting dilemma (if you can call it that). I was gifted this bottle of Hibiki 17 about ~5 years ago. Since then its value has skyrocketed (~$800) and I have felt uncomfortable even opening it! Not sure I would appreciate it in the same way that other collectors would. I have thought about selling it to someone who would appreciate it, but that feels awkward also as it was a gift. So for now... it just sits there... in the corner of my liquor cabinet (hiding it when people come over to drink LOL)

The Hibiki 17 is a lovely whisky, and the bottle/packaging is gorgeous. But it definitely isn't worth what the going prices are asking these days, in my opinion. I'm not trying to low-ball the price: you can definitely sell it for $450 or so due to its "collector" status, but I think that price is nuts. I bought it all day long at $60-70 back in the day (much like your friend that gifted it to you), and I still have half an opened bottle.

But as I said, it is delicious, and the bottle/decanter itself is a beauty. It is the one bottle/stopper that I love handling and opening, and that experience makes it even more enjoyable to drink. Unless you really need the cash or will drive yourself nuts thinking about how much it is "worth," just open it and enjoy it.

The Belle Meade is very good. The Old Tub...unless you love JB, not so much. Although anything is worth trying for $16.99
That was my thought, was on sale in PA for 17 bucks. Worst case, would be a go to for mixers

Excited for the belle meade tonight

Today was a good day...

Several of these I picked up for some buddies in CO. @Jonesey07 stones river total beverages was good to me, highly recommend if you haven’t been.
Well done! I’ve been in there a couple times and wasn’t impressed with the staff. I did get some store picks from them earlier this year though.

So I’m still looking for a weller full proof. Let me know if you have one up for sale or trade
I saw one at my local last week for $400...thought it was a bit much for my fledgling collection. Went back Friday and it was gone. What price are looking at for Weller FP?

Birthday gift from a good friend.

How is it? Been on my list a while and always pass it up due to the price.

If anyone has access to Weller 107, let me know. I've literally never seen it in store and it goes within seconds online.

I think going secondary rate for non store pick is around $250? I’m not part of any bourbon secondary groups anymore so feel free to correct me c

I could probably spare a 107 if you are interested. You have anything interesting for trade?
