The story of 12/15/20 for Big Jilm:
Ok, THAT was a long day. Started by leaving early for work at about 8:50 to do my usual stops. First store said they had nothing, on to store #2. I have been stopping at store #2 2 days per week all year long. I had been told "no" a lot there. I saw an empty spot on the shelf for Weller 12 year. I inquired about it in case they had any left over and got my usual "no". I think she felt a little bad for me seeing how disappointed I was and then she said she had a George T. Stagg in the back, to which I replied, "I WOULD LOVE LOVE LOVE THAT!!" Got it for $99.95, unreal. She was happy to see me flipping out over it. I am getting her a Christmas card to thank her! On to store #3. Store #3 opened an hour after the first two did so I had some time to wait for them while I macked breakfast in my car. At 9:30 I noticed someone pacing in front of the store on his phone and kept peeking into the store. I figured this mofo knows something, so I got out of my car and got behind him to start a line. Before I knew it, there were 20 people in line. I have never seen that before at this store -- not sure how everybody knew. Doors opened and they started taking names for a drawing later in the afternoon. Pappy Van Winkle was the buzz, but no one knew which one. The store workers were pissed off so many people showed up asking questions for some reason. Anyway, I dropped my name and headed off to work. Clocked in at 10:45 and ended up getting a call at 1:30 saying that I had won the chance to buy an Eagle Rare 17 for $99.95. Went and picked it up on my 30min lunch and didn't eat. Just got home and I am FREAKING exhausted and starving. Long story long, it was my luck day today. While I didn't end up with the Pappy, I am sooo happy I scored a Stagg and the ER17. I figured I would go for the trifecta and buy some powerball tickets...........who knows, right?!?!!
They will be opened only for a VERY special occasion. I am thinking my 20th anniversary with my wife for the Stagg and the completion of my RIDICULOUS student loan payments in a year and a half for the ER17. Trust me when I say that I have been hurling a dumb amount of $$ at them for a LONG time and it will be a true milestone for me in my life when they are gone.
The End?
