Got lucky at my local liquor store tonight
Very nice! I haven’t heard of those other two. How are they?Right there with ya! Almost.. lolView attachment 596517
Pretty good and reasonably priced - Widow jane is local from me, Brooklyn i think. Blade and bow is from the Stitzel-Weller distillery but both should be available in some of the big bottle stores. Blade and bow might be a better buy at the price point though ~$45-$55 vs ~$60-$80 for the widowVery nice! I haven’t heard of those other two. How are they?
Blade and Bow is good. It’s smooth. Reminds me of Blanton’s. And of course, they let you know like 6 times on the bottle that it’s Stitzel-Weller.Pretty good and reasonably priced - Widow jane is local from me, Brooklyn i think. And like Blanton’s, you can collect all of the keys or some shit.Blade and Bow is good. It’s smooth. Reminds me of Blanton’s. And of course, they let you know like 6 times on the bottle that it’s Stitzel-Weller.
I have #3 and #4 nowAnd like Blanton’s, you can collect all of the keys or some shit.
Nope! I believe I will run into Pappy eventually with my persistence. I do not think I will see this one for a long time, if ever!
I've been a little spoiled, rye-wise, lately. Last tasting had two Kentucky Owls in it...$73
I like it because it is not as spicy as most ryes. No punch in the face, just easy drinking much like the small batch EHT imo. Just mellow. I am drinking the AE Rye right now and WOW. Huge flavor and punch, which I don't mind at all. I like them both because they are so different, opposites really
My local mom-and-pop liquor store has THE ONLY BOTTLE IN THE STATE OF INDIANA, so I guess I have to agree with the statement.Yep, every store owner I talk to around here says they haven’t seen it in years.
Love the rare breed, unwilling to pay to try the Widow Jane (it's in every store here), and I am irrationally angry at the "key" randomly attached to the "blade" and "bow" bourbon so I will never buy one. Triggered!Right there with ya! Almost.. lolView attachment 596517
GLWR, and Dibs!I’m in a raffle that has eagle rare 17. I don’t really want it but if I get a chance I might snag it for one of you all
Then you can re-raffle it to us. Raffle the raffle. If I start a bourbon company that's the name: "Raffle This!"I’m in a raffle that has eagle rare 17. I don’t really want it but if I get a chance I might snag it for one of you all
I’ll trade you some bottles. Local, too!I’m in a raffle that has eagle rare 17. I don’t really want it but if I get a chance I might snag it for one of you all

Ooooh - the Michter's is good. Was surprised at how

Blade and Bow is decent whiskey, but the Stitzel-Weller on the label is just a marketing gimmick. If there's one drop of Old SW juice in that bottle, I'd be shocked.
@Saoliver , this is the one that's from the Stitzel-Weller distillery.

That's Stitzel-Weller, and not just Weller, which is no longer associated with the Stitzel-Weller distillery.
Oh, they are VERY proud. And there is Old SW juice in there, but probably just a drop...so that they can tell you 6 times on the bottle that it's SW.Blade and Bow is decent whiskey, but the Stitzel-Weller on the label is just a marketing gimmick. Part of their schtick is mentioning that they use the solera process, keeping some of the old bourbon in the barrels as the age the new stuff. they allude to having that SW still in there but never mentions how much or from what batchBlade and Bow is decent whiskey, but the Stitzel-Weller on the label is just a marketing gimmick. In the book Pappyland, they talk about how the majority of the leftover SW juice was dumped into Crown Royal as a filler. They sold off the remaining supply at $200 a barrelBlade and Bow is decent whiskey, but the Stitzel-Weller on the label is just a marketing gimmick.
