It may be a crime to you whiskey snobs, but my father in law just brought some home-made "sipping dessert". His version of eggless egg nog and it was pretty good. He makes it during the holidays since he doesn't like eggs/eggnog. Gotta give a 74 year old man some leeway on his liquor.

Recipe is 1 can Condensed Mild, 1 Can Evaporated Milk, 2 teaspoons of instant coffee, 1 teaspoon of vanilla, 1/2 to 1 can of whiskey/bourbon of choice. His selection is Makers Mark since its "good enough to buy but not too good to mix". Run it all a moment in the blender and enjoy.

What is the price?
I didn't pay much attention to what was said after the "only bottle of Pappy 12 in Indiana" baloney, but I want to say the store owner started talking about the secondary market for Pappy 12 and how somebody paid $1200 for one recently. That's about twice as high as it should be, right? This isn't Pappy 20, it's Pappy TWELVE. Jackasses. Bought a bottle of Chicken Cock Rye from their competitor this week just to spite them.

You should have told him there is no “Pappy 12”. Pappy only makes 15,20,23 and a Rye.

The wife and I normally give each other nominal Christmas gifts. But this year, she got me something awesome. Notice the message. :ROFLMAO:

I like the 12 year the best. Typically about $100 per bottle. They also sell a little sampler set that have 10,12,and 15 year so you can try them all

Found some pappy bottles and george t stagg around here but the prices were ridonkulous.

Can you get Stagg for $50?!
If one of my local shops in particular gets it, then I expect the price to be around that. He might mark it up to $70 or so, but that would be the limit.

My "$1200 Van Winkle 12-year Only Bottle In Indiana Guy" is small and never gets cases of allocated bourbon, just a bottle or two, and he has much older relationships with customers besides me, so even if he got Stagg Jr, that bottle or two would probably never go to me for any price.

My Mega Lo Mart liquor store (35 stores in N Indiana), if they get Stagg Jr, I think they will allocate it between Fort Wayne, Elkhart, and South Bend and auction it.

They couldn't be more different from Pappy, as you probably know. One is a bourbon with no rye, the other is a Rye whisky. The WPs are very expensive for what they are imo. One can get a better Rye for way less money, again, imo, for my taste.

Anyone ever had this one? Really enjoyed it worried my tastes have evolved and I might like scotch

Ha!!! Glad to hear, KC! Port Askaig is an independent bottler and more often than not, their releases are rumored to be Caol Ilas. If you like it, you can try the regular Caol Ila 12yo, usually from $55 to $85, depending on state. I like it a lot better closer to the $55 myself, LOL!
