Full House
Just missed out on an antique. Have squares for bourbon. Final is Pappy
If you like 3, you'll like 4. I bought two at retail.So...Bardstown Discovery #4: anyone tried it? Worth the coin?
Yes. Also used to be single barrel, but they dropped that designation a few years back due to their bottling methods. I still love ER store honey picks.Eagle rare 10YR from what I understand most of you guys like correct?
I'm more jealous of the Pliny than I am off the Blanton's!
I tried to buy a case online during the recent release. It was gone in a minute or two.I'm more jealous of the Pliny than I am off the Blanton's!
Not outside California. I had a friend who would have reshipped for me.Are they shipping?
I picked up a bottle of Larceny this week. I'm not sure I like it. It's very smooth, but also a bit thin and bland to my palate. I tend toward ryes and high rye bourbons.
I was much happier with the Rare Breed chaser.
I thought I'd heard good things about it, but apparently not. Luckily only $30 down the tubes.Larceny sucks. I hear barrel proof is good though.
Am I allowed to guess?Bought. For a friend. Two are easy to identify. One will be very difficult...

The WA ranking was for Larceny Batch B520, I believe. Not sure if thats still available on shelves, or how it compares to more recent releases. If you prefer something on the spicier rye end, Rare Breed is definitely the better option of the two (also find a bottle of the Alberta Rye if you can!). I wouldn't say Larceny "sucks" though and a direct comparison to rare breed is a bit unfair, you're comparing a $25-$30 bottle (Larceny) to $45-$50 bottle (Rare Breed). The Larceny Barrel Proof is supposed to be very good (#1 on Whiskey Advocate's top 20 this year), I can't recall if I've seen anyone on here try it yet. I've had an eye out for it but typically anything that pops up on that WA top 20 list gets cleaned out for 3-6 months around here.
Oh sure, I know that they're apples and oranges. I picked up the Larceny on a whim, knowing that it was out of my lane but also having some vague idea in my head that "I'd heard it was good" without remembering anything specific. Maybe it is good for some, but it's definitely not for me.If you prefer something on the spicier rye end, Rare Breed is definitely the better option of the two (also find a bottle of the Alberta Rye if you can!). I recently watched the How To Drink video where Greg made a matrix of Manhattans and got plastered on camera. The whiskey that he consistently raved about in this video was, I believe, Alberta Premium Cask Strength Rye. I'm not sure if that one's available around here, but it's on my list to look for. I believe I've seen the Alberta Rye Dark Batch locally but haven't tried it.
Go find some of the Alberta Premium Cask Strength Rye, it's very good Check the last 4 or 5 pages of this thread, several others will concur as well
Also reorganized and picked up a second barrel finally
I'm not going to lie. This post kind of turned me on.
Haha, the final things to do are build a custom table, get some comfy chairs, replace the wall shelves with dark stained wood and pipe brackets.
