Excited for this one

Nicely done. Let us know what you think, and if another one pops up you don’t need... :sneaky:
Welp, I’ll be honest. Meh. It’s nice and all, but not much character. I tried a sample of the barrel proof and really liked it, so I had high expectations for this one. But it isn’t nearly as interesting as the other bottles I’ve opened recently.

Well I suppose since it’s single barrel there’s gonna be a lot of variance. So maybe you got a dud batch...

I think I have a sample somewhere. I'll let you know. The only Willett I've ever seen was the Pot Swill.
I was expecting not to like it since I don’t really like ryes but this was so different from other ryes. Doesn’t even have the peppery palate that ryes often have. The nose on it is incredible. Even my wife liked the nose (she’s pregnant so she can’t drink it). I actually really like it which I hoped I didn’t. Now I gotta find all the different expressions. This is good stuff!!

Popped open a new bottle of Eagle Rare this evening, first time I've seen it at a reasonable price around here so I grabbed a bottle. Has a really nice nose - light sweet oak with a bit of leather, vanilla and orangey citrus notes. The oak flavor continues through on sipping with just a bit a spice. Smooth but I was hoping for a bit more considering the nose. Very quick but clean finish. Pretty well balanced, good value sipper bourbon for $30-$40 (I sometimes see it for like $80+ around here which is nuts).

I like eagle rare. It’s easy to drink. But I think $40 is the tops for me. Above that and I leave it on the shelf. It does make a great old fashioned

I was eyeing up the Port Charlotte Heavily Peated. I'm pretty sure the Scots make this stuff to fuck with each other.

you gotta ease your way into the peaty stuff. You just dove right in expecting to like smoke after coming off caramel and honey. You gotta crawl before you walk. Try some glendronach and let us know if that tickles your fancy

Huge thanks to @Klobberer for hooking me up! None of my local stores have this, and I've been desperate to try it.

Kudos on packing, too. My UPS driver could have been the Incredible Hulk and these bottles would still have arrived safely.

I'm assuming the included mac and cheese is a suggested pairing?
