I get such an inferiority complex whenever I'm reading this thread. You guys pick up bottles that are nearly impossible to find down here, while I'm lucky to score a bottle of Eagle Rare.

This was my buddy’s, 2x msrp but it took months trying to find one at a reasonable price. Not sure if the story is true, but the stores in and around NJ messed up on claiming these - so most bottles that were allocated for the area went to one store. They just started popping up in NYC, but usually at only 2x or a case per store - some stores are holding them for their annual lottery; some are marking them up 4x-6x.

So, yeah… I sent 7 bottles Jim’s way and took home 18 bottles from him. I can’t resist Oregon prices. I appreciate @Big Jilm so much for finding and storing these bottles for me. This meetup was months in the making. And so worth it!

I like distiller.com. I go by community rating. If something has 40+ or 50+ community scores, and the numbers are high, that's usually a good sign. Low numbers are a good warning too. The latest Orphan Barrel gets horrid reviews. I could have bought it twice now, and I won't bother with it.

I like Breaking Bourbon or Flaviar. Often I’ll just search for what I’m looking for and “review.” Or search “Flaviar Weller Antique 107” for example.

Kinda depends on what you like. I like ADHD whiskey on youtube, we have very similar palettes. Bourbon junkies are also pretty good.

For non-video reviews, I usually rely on Whiskey Advocate, their reviewers are typically pretty spot on. Or breaking bourbon if I want to check numerous consumer reviews.

It was good! Oaky and delicious. I still want to make my own though!! Thank you so much for the sample!!!!!

My favorite distillery is Laphroaig. The 18 year old is no longer bottled but if you can find it, it’s a beautiful whisky. Their Quarter Cask is also quite good but not as subtle as the 18.

I am very fond of peated whiskies like Laphroaig and Lagavulin and sweet Sherry bombs like Glenrothes.
