Never even seen one before. I was not overly impressed with Special Reserve.
That’s 499.99’by me. :-(

Same opinion here on the S.R. If I saw it on the shelf, even at msrp, I would leave it there.Never even seen one before. I was not overly impressed with Special Reserve.
I've had just the regular one. How is it?
It’s very good. A good balance of sweet and oak. Like peaches and cinnamon, then oak and a medium finish of pepper and rye spice. It’s very viscous and coats the mouth.I've had just the regular one. How is it?
This years state lottery (chance to purchase).....I'm in!

I have one! But it's not open yet.The Little Book 5 is pretty dang good. It would be fun to compare notes to somebody else who has some.
Just one? I have all years except Chapter 1 and none are open.I have one! But it's not open yet.
Yeah, I only have this year's release.Just one? I have all years except Chapter 1 and none are open.
That top right looks like it might be Chapter 1? Maybe?Found a place with EVERYTHING, in Santa Barbara. The place was ram-jammed with amazing bottles. With crazy prices to match. Just a couple pics of <0.25% of their stock.

But I did find one excellent value, at a very reasonable markup from MSRP.
While the profiles are similar, the Jack is definitely charcoal mellowed. It drinks much lower than it’s proof. Hints of banana and a bunch of burnt caramel. The OF brings the heat. Oak, bananas, dark cherry and leather.
Wasn't listed on the counter, but when I've asked before when they've had it, it's msrp/retail. $199 or $249 or whatever it is for that bottle.I have that 15 year next to them. How much is it there
I think I've said it before, but I'm glad I've got the Blue Spot in my collection, but it is by no means my preferred Spot.It was great meeting @Big Jilm on Saturday. Thanks for the beer! My wife always gets a kick out of meeting my internet friends. Hahahaha
So, yeah… I sent 7 bottles Jim’s way and took home 18 bottles from him. I can’t resist Oregon prices. I appreciate @Big Jilm so much for finding and storing these bottles for me. This meetup was months in the making. And so worth it!
I don’t know what I’m most excited to try.

Welcome, and if you follow this thread prepare to be inundated with bourbons! My favorite distillery is Laphroaig. The 18 year old is no longer bottled but if you can find it, it’s a beautiful whisky. Their Quarter Cask is also quite good but not as subtle as the 18.
I am very fond of peated whiskies like Laphroaig and Lagavulin and sweet Sherry bombs like Glenrothes.
I've always found that in all things subjective like movies, books, food, whiskey that the best result from reviewers comes by finding 4-5 things you like/dislike and searching for a reviewer who feels the same way about those things. If you hate something and they hate something and you like something else and so do they, then when they recommend something or say you can skip something you can normally trust their judgement. YMMVWhere is the best place for bourbon reviews?
lol, some of the stuff they are locking up is $50 MSRP!Found a place with EVERYTHING, in Santa Barbara. The place was ram-jammed with amazing bottles. With crazy prices to match. Just a couple pics of <0.25% of their stock.
