So I think I'm going to do a rye flight on Friday evening to compare some very good new (to me) entries to some established favorites. How many contestants do you all think is too many? I'm up to 7..... :wtf:  :ROFLMAO:

And yes I know it's only Tuesday but I need something to look forward to to get me through the week, otherwise I may not make it to Friday lol

I’m going to have it tonight. Maybe run it against another 10yr 100proof single barrel: Henry McKenna.
I am interested. That might be a tough comparison.....depends on the bottle of McKenna given the inconsistency, let us know!! (also which barrel of Mckenna). i want to do the same, maybe on my day off. :)

Tried it and like it! However, I need some more pours to develop my official opinion on it. Comparing it against the McKenna sounds like a cool idea like Scott is doing
I’ve got a single barrel Eagle Rare too, but that’s only 90 proof. Why not? Let’s get crazy.

INDEED SIR, LETS GET FUCKING NUTS!

Rebel: 5726822, 3/3/10
McKenna: 9674, 3/31/10

NOSE.
Rebel 10 is an instant winner on the nose. More complex, richer in ways that the McKenna comes up thin if that makes sense. More red fruit there than the HM

Nose
McKenna: Very floral up front, then traditional caramel and oak.

Rebel: A ton of fruit, and the typical super sweetness of a wheater. Blackberry, cherry and cotton candy.

Palate
McKenna: Vanilla and oak. Rye spice. Some burnt caramel. Less complex and more balanced than the Rebel.

Rebel: Cherry, vanilla, cinnamon and spice, then a good oaky finish. I usually don’t like a lot of oak but it’s not overpowering.

Verdict: Too close to call. I’ll try again in a month or so. :p

Palate and finish.
At first, it was Rebel obvious to me. More going on, better finish for sure. Cherry and sweet oak, yummy. They sat in the glasses a bit and it got much closer. McKenna has a lot more peanut happening, with some nice caramel notes. Everything improved the longer it sat. The Rebel ultimately wins for me, too much red fruit, cherry, oaky balance, and a stronger finish. This was REALLY CLOSE!!!

This is meh. I still have a few limited releases that I can try. 21 FAE-01 and 20 SE4-PR5. But Makers Mark isn't impressing me here.

This is one of their worst offerings. MM 101 and the wood finishing series FAE 01, however, are two of the best bourbons for the price. The best cask strength MM anything I've tried was from 2015.

This might be my favorite of the few Booker’s that I’ve had. It doesn’t punch you with the proof like other Booker’s or Knob Creek single barrels do for me. It is very balanced with dark fruit, cocoa, vanilla and spice, then ramps up the heat. The staple Beam peanut comes through towards the end then finishes on a sweet note. Maybe a dark cherry.

I’ve been trying to track one down, no luck so far.

Wasn't that was a $60 bottle only a few years ago? Saw it at one of my locals yesterday for $119!

Sippin Dickel BiB 13yr. There's a lot going on here. I definitely do not get the "flintstones vitamins" at all, which is good. For all of its age, Dickel is quite a bargain if it agrees with your palate. Still looking for those Dickel 15 Yr bottles that are supposed to be out there for like $60, but none around me yet. And I made a meme.
