I don’t know if this is a good price or not, but LoveScotch has this one in stock right now. It’s way more than I’m willing to spend on a bottle, but I do know these are IMPOSSIBLE to find in NC

Overpriced IMHO. I think the bottles I found were like $85. Maybe if it was the rye version (much harder to find) I'd understand the premium. Note these bottles can also be very hit or miss as they're single barrels - I've seen lots of reviews online stating their bottle was overly hot. The offering from my local store was fantastic, I tried it in the store and walked out with 3 bottles (then went back for more later lol).

It's an $80 bottle.

They are exceptional however.

I'd be willing to pay 100-120 if I was really struggling for one, but they're out there.

Yeah I paid like $95 for mine, it’s really tasty but I probably wouldn’t pay over $100. Really interested in finding a bottle of the rye though, I love the standard Old Fo rye, must be killer at barrel proof.

Bourbon prices are insane. I'm paying like $200-250 for rare scotch. Couple thousand bottles ever or something from an IB where there are 250 bottles.

Paying that much for bourbon that's just hard to find because of overbuying seems kinda crazy to me.

Couldn’t agree more!! Phenomenal pick for sure!! ;-)

Your ears must have been burning, I was just saying to myself that I need to check in and see if you tried it yet. I'm glad you enjoyed it!

I'm always leery of "overselling" a bottle I really like, especially to those who have a whole lot more tasting experience than me :)

I could be convinced this 6y Barrell is willett juice, lots of caramel, cinnamon and dark oak, maybe some cherry, a little hot, but one of the better neck pours I’ve had in a while - could be comparable to the juice in Noah’s Mill/Rowan’s creek and a cousin of the willett pot still bottle mediocrity. Doesn’t taste like a lot of the MGP and other Barrell standard releases I’ve had, but maybe that’s just me. Definitely drinks well above its age.

Sounds like purple top! o_O

This week's finds. Was able to go back to the store from yesterday and score two of the Four Roses. One for me and one for a neighbor who's "want list" of bourbons that he gave me a while back is literally one line: "ANY 4R Single Barrel/Barrel Strength." I texted him "What...no BTACs? ;-)" and he texted "Just find me what's on the list."

When I texted him the pic yesterday (the one I posted here), his reply was "BUYBUYBUYBUY. PLEASE!" lol

I'm most excited to try the German rye. It apparently is peated (it has malted barley in it), and the shopkeeper I bought it from sang its praises. I hope it doesn't disappoint....

I love OF line up. Even their bottom shelf bourbon isn't to bad. I'd buy a bottle for 80 to try it. $150 is well out of my price range for almost any bourbon.

Just heard a rumor that Barrell Spirits 7-8 year old store picks are Willett juice...heading to Total Wine now!
This is 100% rumor (and not one I'd trust at all). Barrell sources their liquid from all over the world, and Willett (until somewhat recently) wasn't even distilling their own. They list the State/s of distillation on the bottles as well. I have selected a number of Barrell's private selections myself, and never once caught any of the signature Willett notes in them (nor do I believe Barrell would have 6-8 Willett distillate for sale for under $99). Food for thought!
