Had the wife set these up blind for me.

The nose on A is very floral. Most similar to Four Roses maybe. Some citrus and baking spice.

The Nose on B is more traditional. Vanilla. Brown sugar. Maybe some orange peel.

A edges out B on the nose just because of its uniqueness. Both are fantastic.

The palate on A is a quick, sweet cherry note, then warm heat with spice, raisins, and oak that lingers. A long finish that slowly fades out. It’s very good.

The palate on B is vanilla, then a punch of oak, spice, and barrel char. The finish fades quicker than A.

A wins on the palate too. While B is very good, A is excellent bourbon.

Result: I like A better.

A is Calumet 15
B is Sam Houston 15
Great post. Which SH15 batch is that one?

I like the Calumet better as well, but it's close.

300 for 5 year old american whiskey? uhhh.... wtf?
$100+ per bottle, but yeah that's high. Initial reviews seem to be pretty good, but I expect these to sit on the shelf at my store for a while.

I have had the Middle West Pumpernickel Rye, and it's tasty. Worth around the $45 I paid for it. I can't imagine the finished rye deserving more than twice the $$, however.

oh, that makes more sense. I maybe wasn't entirely sober and read that as they were 300 a bottle.

In fact I may have misspoken. I am checking their website inventory, which is never right, but those bottles are listed at $70 each. So now they are in the maybe ballpark.
