Getting ready for a friendly little $1/$1 game while we watch some hoops!

Cracked the Ezra first. Interesting. First sip was admittedly not my flavor profile, it had some nice sweet vanillia and caramel and oak, but there was a funk to it, almost grassy and herbal. Similar notes on the palate with some peppery spice, a tad hot. Buuuuuuut giving it some time to breathe immensely helped. Toned down the off flavors, and some baking spice notes emerged. Great mouthfeel and a decently long finish. I'll have to revisit it again in a few weeks (I think a little rest after opening will do wonders here), but seems to be a pretty good whiskey for $50.

Next pour. Soooo good. A little lighter on the nose than typical, sweet oak with caramel, vanilla and some brown sugar. Very sweet and bright on the initial palate with the spicy oak coming through as it sits (very different than the darker/carnal C921). Beautiful long and warm finish, lots of oak and leather that dries out forever. Very well balanced for the proof level. Everything an ECBP should be. Not quite as complex and rich as some of the best, but still very good.

For fRYEday I am comparing the pikesville to the pepper distillery single barrel. Had 3 oz of each.

First off both are very good and I look forward to a face off with my whistle pig 10 year.

Between the two I prefer the peeper distillery. Both are very smooth and light on the tounge in the front with spice on the end, but the pikesville has a bit of bitterness to go with the spice while the pepper distillery has more of a sweetness to the finish.

I completely agree with this assessment. I wanted to have another pour last night. I decided to make it a scotch night!. I have an unopened bottle of the C921. Maybe that'll be tonight's pour!

I opened EC BP C921 and A122 last night. Poured two glasses. Sat down. Forgot which was which. One was clearly better than the other, but I guess I'll just have to try again some time to tell this forum which one.

Wow I'm really curious to hear which is which now. C921 was pretty different, its super charred and edgy (I really liked it). Haven't seen A122 yet around here.

Guys the liquor store next door has some interesting bottles that seem overpriced but want to see if folks think any are worth it

ECBP C921 - $109
ECTB - $199
Blackened x willet rye - $199
Elija Craig 18 year single barrel $400

They also had some stupid priced weller I won’t even bother mentioning.

I just picked up a bottle of ECTB yesterday for $55+tax. I had no idea it was that popular on the secondary market. I’ve yet to open mine and it will be my first time ever having it, but I can’t imagine it being anywhere near worth $200 a bottle.

I will sell anybody here a EC TB for 70. Plus shipping. 199 is a joke.

I’ve never seen the blackened Willet rye cheaper
