So are others in agreement? Skip the Aberlour bottles? Any particular reason?
I've mostly stuck with Aberlour A'bunadh so interested in what you like about the other bottlings.

I notice that all three are really finished. Two sherry and one port. Are you liking this heavy influence?

I'll echo to recommendation for Compass box. They puts out some amazing products. Blends are sometimes stigmatized but rarely compass box.

The Orchard House is really interesting and just as described, super drinkable and easily approachable for a new scotch drinker, especially in the summer months. I've never served it to someone and not have them enjoy it.

Yes I am leaning towards finished bottles.

We're fortunate that a regular in our game works for the largest liquor distributor. So pushing new offerings and tastings are opportunities he's always chasing.

You'd be doing him a favor to sample his spirits. ;)
My brother in law is in the biz, which has proved a real bonus for me!

Did you guys say the later 2022 batches of Noah's Mill are better? This is what's available here.

yep that should be good.

REF:
I did some sampling this weekend at one of my local stores. The owner is a great resource and has been doing private barrels with most of the distillers since before that was a thing. He gave the PSA that if you haven’t had any of the recent Noah’s Mill, you need to try it. Apparently for the past 4 years Willett has been using much younger and sourced juice, but recent batches are much older Willett. Look for something late 21 or 22, which should be readily available for under $60

The results of todays shopping trip. Thanks to all you guys for the great suggestions.

So yeah... The Compass Box is OUTSTANDING. I'm not usually very good at identifying smells and flavors, but the moment I poured it, I was blasted with pear notes. So fruity... So smooth and clean. I could kill this bottle in about three nights if I wasn't careful. Definitely going back for backup bottles.

That OF 100 is my standard for mixed drinks and cocktails. It’s a fine supper sipper too.

Here’s my purchases today:

How much is Still Austin up in Seattle? I tasted it at the ATX meetup and been meaning to pick one up. It's under $55 here. But then again, I may never drink bourbon again now that I've had COMPASS BOX SCOTCH!!!!!!! :ROFLMAO:

Also, for any of you that have wives or friends that like a little splash of water with their scotch, is there a preferred water to use? Or anything filtered or bottled good enough?

Edit: Regarding standard Rye. I've been switching back and forth between OF100 and WT101. But I pretty clearly like OF100 better and will be sticking with that from now on. I will always have a bottle on hand. And you can't beat $27 for a liter.

Just got word that the next barrel release from my local spot is Weller 107. Can't wait to try that one, last release was Eagle Rare 10 year. I have about 6 bottles from them that have been great. ie Blanton's, Weller full proof, knob creek single barrel, ER10 and regular BT. Side note I'll be on the look out for Noah's mill on my next total wine trip

Anyone want stagg jr for 225+ tax? I’m at a store. They have two. Batch 17 I believe.

It’s a charity price so $100 of each bottle goes to schools near me. So that’s cool
