Is this gift pack worth picking up? 375mL each of the standard, rum cask, and toasted barrel for $50. I’ve never had any of them. View attachment 1407391
I haven't had these three specifically, but I've had a few Yellowstone barrel picks from my local inebritorium and have never been disappointed with them.

Seems like a reasonable price for a variety pack, but I also don't know what going rates for similar drams are in your neck of the woods.

Personally, I'd get it for that price.

The standard is $50-55 around here. I’ve never seen the others on the shelf. I’ll probably grab one.

Jack single, barrel proof.

Alrighty @Billy Baroo , you've championed this one enough to peak my curiosity (especially at $56 :) )

I know it’s not the peat monster some of you here look for, but for me, it was a perfect amount to help me decide if I wanted to explore peated malts even further. I really enjoyed my bottle and I’m hoping to find a bottle of their Smoky 10 since it’s matured in different casks than its older sibling.

$56 is a great price too! Hard to go wrong that

I’m curious hear your thoughts on this one. Probably not the sod monster you typically reach for but I gotta think it’s about perfect for when you’re wanting a decent amount smoke to compliment the nice fruity sweetness that this one has underneath it. If anything , it’s probably a good warmer upper for a heavier one.

I’ll apologize in advance if you didn’t like it (especially how I raved about it) but I still stand by my assessment of it especially since it was my first real intro to anything more than just lightly peated.

Someone tipped me off that GoPuff (who would’ve thought) has RR private barrels. I looked and with a promo, they’re $30… I’m wondering how many I can get away with

Definitely a nice bottle, especially for the price. It's what I would call a "delicate" scotch, in that it's got a very nice, well balanced flavor profile that doesn't overwhelm you. Very drinkable and a great scotch to share with someone looking to dabble a little outside their comfort zone (ie standard bourbon drinker). I get a lot of Irish whiskey notes in here; warm vanilla, sweet stone fruit and oak mixed with a campfire smoke that noticeable but not in your face.

If anything , it’s probably a good warmer upper for a heavier one.
Yep I would agree here, good warmer upper or for a night you don't want something with a punch.

Weirdest thing...beautiful day here in PA so windows and doors flung wide open. Poured a Viski glass of Rare Breed. Gnats were so attracted to it...several dead gnats floating within a few minutes. Thought I'd try and attract them to an old fashioned glass of OGD114 and cap my RB with a playing card. Ten minutes later, no gnats in the wide open OGD114. One gnat, dead, in the capped RB. WTF? Are my gnats whiskey snobs?

Another odd thing...card capping my Rare Breed is a 1954 Kem Bridge Joker. Has always been poker flat. On top of the Viski it curves up. If I flip it, it curves in the opposite direction. No temperature change. Pics coming...

Trying two tasty samples this evening

I’m also feeling extremely lucky this evening!

Today at 7:20 AM I collapsed in the shared parking deck at work from a stroke. The community college I work for shares this deck with the adjacent hospital across from my office. Luckily for me, we have a fully accredited nursing and EMS program here as I was seen collapsing by two nursing and EMS students that knew how to quickly respond to what they saw and recognized my symptoms and were able to get an ambulance on site very fast. Their quick actions possibly saved my life and helped prevent this from being a major stroke as the neurosurgeon that operated on me seems to think I’m gonna make a full recovery. God is great!!!

Here’s my miserable self as my nice neurological nurse has to come in every 45 minutes and wake me up to do her checks on me.

i got my rotating loop of Dark Side and Wish You Were Here playing on my phone in hopes I can relax and get some sleep! Feeling very blessed all things considered!

Thank God you are ok, Byron. I’ll be praying for your recovery. You are certainly blessed to have it happen where there was care nearby. Get some rest. Listen to the professionals. And hug on your family.
