Palm Gaming? (2 Viewers)

I think perhaps part of the problem is expectation, especially by newer members....

Long-time members here and on CT that are familiar with Joe and his company understand how he operates and the primary business focus of PGI (it is not the direct consumer market). PGI is not set up for retail business, it's not what they do. Nearly everything Joe does for us is in some way counterproductive to the designed efforts of his company (and his other business partners typically don't like it, either), but he does it for us anyway. Sometimes his responses are near-automatic, other times, when his real business demands his time, things here get put aside or even sometimes temporarily forgotten. There are some things that Joe does very, very well, and other things, well, not so much. Attention to detail and clear communications are not his strong suit.

Now, if this were to occur with a business designed to provide retail products and service to the general public, it would be an outrage - well, maybe not, but it likely would not be considered acceptable, at the very least. But that's not really the case here. Joe/PGI offers us manufacturer products at discounts (often for at or less than he sells to his retailers for resale), occasional special deals (such as products not available elsewhere, or custom-made for us exclusively), and a whole slew of other favors and custom options (which I won't go into detail about here).

I generally cut him some slack and tailor my expectations to meet the situation at hand, because to complain about PGI as if they were a retailer is actually risking that all of those 'insider' favors go away entirely, and we would be forced to deal only with PGI's licensed retailers for access to their standard products only at marked-up retail prices. Personally, I don't want to see that happen, and neither should you. Because that's exactly what other manufacturers like BCC and Paulson have done in the past, when they stopped selling to the home market.

And now you know the rest of the story....

I've had 2 orders in the last 60 days...no issues. Kim is a great help. Joe just seems swamped.

This sums it up very well, was going to type similar response but it would not have been nearly as well written :) I have had great response and a few times where it took multiple attempts, but Joe has always come through in the end.

Good call out..I generally expect everything to be like Amazon when I buy goods. This is a different ball. The quality is second to none on the goods I received. :)

This is the same reason why I signed up for Palm Gaming Prime. Not only is everything two day shipping but I get a response within 24 hours. The best part is that I can stream videos of chips from their website all day long for no extra charge.

So reporting back, Joe got back to me and more than met my expectations:) thanks for the come to Jesus moment..

I guess I have to admit I was coming from an angle of "I want business." in my comments, I didn't realize PGI didn't want to deal with retail. In that case since Joe is doing everybody a favor then I agree with you, there should be no expectation of any communication or other such customer service items. (Not sure what to make of the website that appears to be set up for retail sales though.)

Joe and the entire Palm Gaming company seems to do good things so that's great, I hope to have a need/reason to order stuff from them in the future!

"You need a watch? I know a guy that sells them below cost."

"Below cost, how's he make any money?"

"He sells a lot of watches." :D ;)

it would surprise me if Joe didn't make it right or at least have some equitable response when he gets the chance. I recall him being something more of a rockstar & agree that this retail segment is a nod to the enthusiasts moreso than any kind of focus for his business
