needed some parmigiano-reggiano for tonight's dinner so I picked up these at the store while I was there

Had the 2013 Lange pinot with spaghetti marinara with hot Italian sausage topped with parmigiano-reggiano and fresh basil. This is my first pinot noir and in one word I say: meh

I wouldn't pair a Pinot Noir with chorizo sausage, or any pasta with a heavy sauce. Fish or shellfish, perhaps.

Yeah, was going to go with steak (filet), but we are saving it for the 2015 Lange Pinot reserve, much better year for the Willamette valley. Steak is scarce in these parts!!

Ultimately, I'm happy I did not waste a steak on this bottle...fish might have been a better option there. Live and learn!

I live in the KC metro (on the Kansas side, of course!) and there isn’t a beef shortage here (yet).

In fact, last weekend my local grocery store had fresh whole beef tenderloin for $4.99 a pound. Their vendor usually sold these tenderloins to cruise lines, but obviously can’t right now, so had to dump them off cheap.

I’ll be eating filet for weeks now.

Tried this tonight. It’s a buy and drink for me since lock down as the facility that houses my wine has been closed ☹️ That’s okay, still plenty of agreeable buy and drink wines are available without the need to cellar.

Riedel is the classic, you can also look for cheaper version, but riedel is a good overall glass.
And then the sky is the limit. Baccarat , Tiffany, etc Have super high hand glasses.

also you need to think about a couple decanters

Finally, the final package has arrived

Love it , wondering if you are going to be like a lot of us....
Buy a fridge for 20 bottles... get full, buy a 40 bottle fridge.... get full...
Now 60 bottles.. what do I do. Buy 230 plus fridge... where do we go now?:nailbite:

God I hope not, but that sounds about right!!!

I always find it interesting that unless you're dining in a Michelin-starred restaurant, in France and Spain they don't pay much attention to glassware.

These Cahors glasses are our all-purpose nightly drinkers. We love them. And they're very secure with a finger through the hole, even out by the pool after dinner..

@Max D -- the only words that come to mind are SMOOTH and BALANCED. We liked it!! The wine was really delicious on it's own, but I am afraid the pairing did not work well despite the research IMO. Wasn't horrible, but I was hoping for more with the food. Back to the drawing board...

The last couple of suppers. The Pecorino has developed into one of our favorite food whites, along with Albarino and Vouvray. The Saint Cosme has become our every-Friday bottle, as we get pick-up and try to support one of our favorite small local restaurants (Paris Bistro).

I really love the design of these glasses, so cool. My wife INSISTED we buy them, she loves them! I scoured the internet and unfortunately could not find them. I went with the Riedel XL cab glasses (for now). That said, if I ever see these I will buy them without hesitation...

Me too. We bought a box of six in the tourist center in Cahors about two years ago, and I've been looking for more ever since. It was early in our trip, and I just couldn't figure out a way to carry more with us. There is one place selling them on the net, but they only ship within Europe.

We have tennis friends who split their time between Florida and France, about fifty miles south of Cahors. But I haven't yet talked them into a road trip, as well as figured out how to package four or more boxes of wine glasses safely for international shipment. :(

I'm kinda scared now
Hey @Big Jilm , no worries. Be assured that you’re getting quality glassware that will last you for years to come.

I bought all my wine glasses years ago. Think they were the VInum Cabernet/Bordeaux. At that time I wasn’t even aware of a XL model. The biggest and most expensive was I believe the Sommelier model. Great to aeriate, swirl, and really get a sense of the wine.

Wine Enthusiast is a great site. See below. No worries, enjoy!
