A local liquor store stocks Gruet and orders cases for me.@pltrgyst do you find your Gruet at local stores or do you order online?
I really love a lot of Italian reds and this one is a fine example.
I am not sure but it had definite similarities. I joined Laithwaites as a Christmas gift to myself. It was a bottle they included in their Red Italian package. I should spend more time learning about the vintages but in reality I just like to try new wines.I've never heard of Nero di Troia. Any relation to Nero d'Avola?
@RocAFella1 @ over $200 a bottle I dont think so. It may have been a mistake to open it, maybe it is like some of the burgundies where I should have waited a few years.Worth the price of admission?
Did it open up?Port-a-potty made way on the nose to pure BO after a bit. Some time later, the nose is still a bit funky but more pleasant. Ended up being some decent wine. Never had ANYTHING quite like that experience.
Yes, it took longer than I expected. But it was better ultimately than the first bottle. But damn man, wtf with that fowl odor?Did it open up?
That's the "bull" part.Port-a-potty made way on the nose to pure BO after a bit....
I consider Nero d' Avola to be a truly Geek wine and drink as much of it as I can; even if the heretical, secessionist Papal forcesNero d'Avola is one of my all time favorites. Had my first bottle outside Milan in 2017 and buy it anytime I see it.
Agree its good shit!I consider Nero d' Avola to be a truly Geek wine and drink as much of it as I can; even if the heretical, secessionist Papal forces, currently dominant in the Italian peninsula
, term it otherwise.
If in doubt, read!![]()
