What chip do you not get? (3 Viewers)

For me Paulson pharoahs. I can't stand the mold and the Egypt theme doesn't do it for me at all.

Tophat and cane chips are beautiful, all expect the 25. The dark green doesn't work for me.

My problem with the Worlds is that I can't stand the chips 500 and up. As to the National Poker Series, I can't take the half-moon chips. So I end up owning parts of both series, Worlds for cash, and NPS for tourneys.

Although I somewhat agree with you, the mixed molds would tilt me far worse. Not to mention that the house mold is ass-ugly.

Shaped inlays. I don't dislike them, per se, I just don't get why so many people love them. I've never looked at a set of chips and said "This is awesome because of the shaped inlay".

On the other hand...
  • Duy's place or Caesars AC are awesome because of the giant inlay. Otherwise I agree Giant inlays are too much label, not enough chip.
  • Detroitdad's sunset chips would fail if they were were not solids. Otherwise, I don't like naked-sided chips.
  • Jbutlers Clermont hotstamps, Club Courage Hotstamps, Lucky Frogs all rock the foil - and would look less attractive as an inlay. Otherwise, I think Hotstamps look "cheap".
  • Cartoon Zombies are great, and the cigar-chomping, cookie-baking character makes the chips. But I have no love - not even a little bit - for evil looking skulls, zombies, jokers, etc.

Never got the zombie/skull/ghoul/death thing on chips. Never liked cartoon art on chips, either. But the cartoon poker zombie dude totally rocks. Go figure.

Those Donkwoods are beautiful! The shaped inlays of the Worlds are what drove me to piecing them together as my "first set"...I didn't realize how hard it would be to put together a large Paulson Tourney set. After many smaller cash sets, this would be my "go to" if I ever host a really large game.

I have to agree with H300 regarding the dark green. While very nice on it's own, in tourney, splashed with the 100 chip, I had too many complaints about the dark green 25 and black 100's clashing. Players always asking about bet size. The bright pink marks on the 25 doesn't help much either against the orange highlights on the black 100. I would not have thought this to be an issue, but try it and it's easy to understand. A lighter green on the 25 would have made a big difference.

Additionally, as a set, the 5000 chip is disappointing. Darkish with dull edge marks, often hard to quickly see from one end of the table, particularly against a darker felt. I would have much preferred the pink 500 to be the 5000 chip, or at least have brighter edge marks on the 5000.
I've swapped out the 25 and 5000 chips in tourney play for these reasons, but it's a shame IMO.
On the other hand, the pink 500 chip is one of the easiest to see 500's of my tourney sets.

And to answer the OP question regarding chips I don't get: LARGE fugly inlays, chips with horrible use of typeface/fonts, and way too many off-centered labels on the Mapes.
