For comparison here are some other black purple combinations. I never had any complaints about the Milano or Paulson home chips so I do not see why these would be a problem.

i reaffirm my vote, particularly in light of that pic. once you go dark...

(i really tried to find a rhyme, but it's been a long day)

That's a really good way of looking at it and I feel stupid I didn't think of it because I have a set of Milanos that we've played a few tournaments with. There have never been any problems with the two chips getting confused, I definitely like the dark purple now. I don't mind either way though, the set I would be buying would be cash and I won't have any purple chips.

Changed my vote based on that pic. I don't see any concern there.

I've been trying to avoid pulling the trigger on a set of these, and Apache keeps taking my excuses away...

Funny you should point out those two as examples (Milano and Casino de Isthmus), because that is exactly the reason I own neither of those sets (well, there are other reasons too, but the color issues is a primary one).

The Milano chips are particularly difficult to discern in less than perfect light, based on the events I have witnessed where they were used. Chips in pots are difficult to count accurately, and dirty stacks are not uncommon.

A side-by-side scan comparison does not emulate play conditions, where the color issues arise.

Could it be the lighting BG? We have used them a few times and I don't remember any issues, but maybe I'm just not remembering them.

edit: sorry, must have skipped over the part where you said "less than perfect lighting"...

Ironically enough, one of the reasons I like the lighter purple better is precisely because it's NOT the same as the Milanos or Pharaohs. Most sets with a purple chip tend to have it darker. I like the lavender chip in the CPS set and kinda hoped this one would be similar.

My vote is for the lighter version.

You can minus my vote for dark purple, since my planned set does not include purple after all.

The dark purple looks awesome...but the lighter purple though I like it less is probably a better option. I changed my vote.

I want to get the order in today. Since it is now 50/50 I will have to keep it the way it is and go with the lighter version.
To keep you guys who wanted a darker $500 chip happy I will request China make the chip a little darker. The sample $500 they sent me is slightly lighter than the CPS chips. I will tell them to make the Majestic $500 the same color purple as the CPS $500.
Hard to please everybody! I expect to have the chips here the first week of December.

You never ever will, my number one lesson I've learned so far owning a small business(that, and don't underestimate taxes lol). Once you realize it however and accept it as fact, it's almost like a moment of clarity with the clouds parting. :)

Can't wait to see these chips.

I didn't vote because if I buy these, it will be a custom label cash set, but I wonder if that light purple will look a tad brighter once it's used & oiled anyway? I think it will look great.. I bet there are some excited folks out there looking forward to this Christmas!

P.s. if I did vote it would have been for the light purple. I had a game recently where a player claimed to have accidently thrown in a Pharaoh's $5000 with a handfull of $100s as they apparently look similar... "Too bad, bud" :-/

Especially looking at the traditional tourney denoms 25/100/500/1000/5000 only, the lighter purple is a great choice! Having three dark base colors among these five chips wouldn't have been that great, IMO ...

Josh...will these be regularly stocked at your store? I was thinking of some blanks for a cash set down the road...

Not to speak for Josh, but he said these will be stocked for years to come.

Edit: Found it:

Blanks will be available. This will be a stock item at my site for many years to come. A presale will be forming soon.

I am in for 1000. This is my first real chip set too. Simply amazing. I guess I was in the right place at the right time!

That is awesome! I was in your same boat a few years ago, but I found the forums and then found my first "real" chip set on craigslist, some Nevada Jacks.

So let me tell you how it's going to go, you are going to be very excited to get your first chipset, but in the mean time you will be cruising the forum and one day you are going to discover the chip designer tool and you're going to dream of a custom set, then you are going to order samples, then it's on to some used casino paulsons, then it's bye bye wallet as you picture how incredible it is going to be owning a mint paulson set one day...

Enjoy the ride!

These are great chips you will be getting to start with though. I've played multiple times with the CPS chips, and while those are good, these are looking a little better in my opinion because the few less than desirable characteristics of the CPS chips have been "fixed" for the Majestic line with the same great quality. You definitely got in at the right time!
