Have we finally reached market saturation?? (3 Viewers)

Taking advantage of a guy with deep pockets throwing money at any and everything was “douchebagish” IMO.

Is it really taking advantage of someone if they ask to be be taken advantage of? And if they actually seem proud to be overpaying... Say, as a flex?

Note: I did not take this opportunity, though I have three racks of JD1KS which apparently would have commanded $15,000. I bought those chips to use them.

I don’t disagree with what your saying. I thought the rest of my post made it clear that I thought BOTH sides to be at fault for much of where things have gone.

The folks who REALLY got screwed with that whole situation were the ones who had been working on long time projects. The kind that you have to put together piece by piece and relationship by relationship. The kind of projects that most here don’t have the vision or patience to achieve because it takes MUCH MORE than pulling out a large wad of cash MOST of the time.

I was on the verge of completing a project that I had been working on for several years when that dude came along. Ultimately almost 3 years later, I completed it but it came with a much higher price tag and left somewhat of a real SHITTY taste in my mouth about some of the other members here who aren’t that guy.

At this point, I don’t care much about putting anymore sets together and I do like stirring the pot on occasion or maybe more than occasionally. ;) I have what I set out to accomplish and I couldn’t be happier with my collection.
I do enjoy the hobby and getting to get together as often as possible with the many great friends and members I have met here.
I can tell you for a fact that outside of this forum, I’m living a great life in much part because of two members on here who’s meetup I decided to attend.

Ultimately, You never know where attending a poker chip meetup could lead you. :)

This is where I’ve been the whole time. Nobody did anything in a vacuum. Greed on both sides for different things - one desired lots of money, the other desired lots of chips. There are numerous transactions like this happening every day.

Is there anything wrong in taking advantage of someone who wants to be taken advantage of? Well - look where we are.

This is fine.

I did a psychology experiment in college on the Coke vs Pepsi challenge - it's actually a dominant hand preference. We had volunteers sign in so we could determine if they were right or left handed. We did a blind taste test offering them two cups of the same soda at the same time. Most swore they could tell the difference and over 90% preferred the drink offered on their dominant hand side.

It's easy to see how Coke could have influenced the results by offering their soda on the right since there are many more right handed people than left handed.
By far the most interesting and useful post in this train wreck of a thread.

I agree that it’s interesting and I’m not disputing the idea that people without a clear opinion might be biased toward their dominant hand. But the idea that people might not be able to taste the difference between coke and Pepsi and have an actual preference - I have a hard time with that.

The Coke/Pepsi taste test challenges preference, not distinguishability.

I'd wager most in the study could tell there was difference, yet still prefer one over the other based on outside influence. My guess is if you ran the same test 3 times in a row to the same volunteer, they wouldn't pick their dominant hand all 3 times. They'd "follow" the one they thought tasted best the first time.

As a side, I grabbed five random barrels last night -- 3 leaded and 2 unleaded. I simply riffled them on the table (not even a shuffle), and my wife correctly picked the two unleaded as "different". Maybe I can upload an audio file on the other thread and see if others can play along.

In this test there was no difference. They were drinking the same soda from both cups, but since they believed they were drinking two different sodas, they were able to identify which one the preferred, with heavy bias toward their dominant hand

I’ve read that Pepsi is sweeter and in a small sip taste test often wins over Coke because of that, but with larger portions Coke is preferred by more people.

Ah yes I overlooked that. Premise still stands on the “original” Coke/Pepsi challenge.

Users can differentiate them but their actual preference may not match their perceived preference.

More importantly what household frac do you have with mixed formulas?
Here you go - look what I discovered last night with my brandy new blacklight!
This might bear more investigation on some rainy afternoon. There are two different versions of the frac in this group of 9. The ones with the little top hat and cane at the top of the hot stamp are about 1.5 grams lighter and presumably unleaded.

People buying HSI Secondary's 5's for $500 a rack is insane. Thank goodness I bought two racks for that price about 8 months ago. I get value is what someone is willing to pay but I could never pay 15 to 20,000 for a set of poker chips except maybe as an investment. Honestly, I could do with a great set of Cards Mold. (I know, poker chip blasphemy)

I don’t think this is the best example of “insanity.” I’ve never seen these for less than $400 a rack in the last 2 years and $500/rack may be close to the upper limit these will ever reach. The most expensive Rolex is another brand’s entry level price point.

No Molds are really good value.

Those pics are crazy, but can you give us a better sense of what we are looking at? Do you know when each of those versions were made? Is it lead that makes them look yellow under the light?
