Have we finally reached market saturation?? (3 Viewers)

Otherwise coined as “Irrational Exuberance” - lol.

I personally think we’re in a downward trending mkt. Yes, there is a core trading/selling high $$ chips amongst themselves, I’ve bought a few $$ racks recently myself.

But the frenzy days where you had people fighting over who could bid the most for a rack are gone IMHO.
Yep similar to the Jordans

AND

- Hoarding has killed forward momentum of many

BUT we're entering quite a wonderful time to be obsessed with cards!

YES to all lol

I have bough/sold “a lot” (roughly 35 racks sold and close to 40 bought, mostly THC) in the past 6mo, this is based on my recent experience…

As far as I can tell, classifieds are full of loose racks/barrels, bait that won’t trade (because we all seem to want the same stuff lol), Paulson home line sets and RHC casino sets. At the right price it will sell. It used to sell in 5 minutes now it takes two weeks, I’d argue this is the way it should be!
It does feels like a buyers market…except for the super premium stuff. There are some sets/racks that just won’t come up for sale. Prices paid/realized are flat on average for the old school leaded stuff.

I am surprised we don’t see more NAGB chips in the classifieds. Maybe it’s because there was a lot of activity (new buyers) at the 2020/2021 highs and holders don’t need to sell and take a loss (I am one of them)?

If you’re a new chipper joining today, there are plenty of great options available at difference prices points.

Btw I need to buy 3 more racks of Lake Elsinore $4

Point #1: Yes. Most of the big rollers have what they want.

Point #2: In some circumstances, yes, but I don't see all too many wanted ads bumped for weeks to months except for mine...

A lot of want ads are either too general and the requester is being too finicky or they're straight forward and closed in a day or two.

Point #3: Hoarders gunna hoard until another multimillionaire signs up here and blows the doors off of them with ludicrous amounts of cash for their unobtanium.

Point #4: Absolutely. People are going on vacations, to concerts, going out to eat more and aren't sitting idle at home anymore in lockdown as they were pre pandemic. I also notice the home game thread isn't as populated as it was a year or two ago. Partly for security reasons discussed elsewhere, but as a whole, the novelty of playing poker again after coming out of lockdown for months is starting to wane.

I've hosted four times this year. Four. I hosted four games by March last year and did 13 or 14 overall. I'm looking at the calendar and October is the next time I'm able to/looking to host.

No games = no need for any new chips.

You need to come to Southern Michigan. We have a ton of hosts. There is almost a game every weekend. It has mostly been like that for the last decade. I host once a month faithfully. When the wife is out of town then I try to host more, or multi tables. I sent out invites for a two table Dealers Choice game. I filled it up with 14 players in less than 24 hours. The degen is strong in Michigan!

July was the first time I didn't have a chance to host a game. I had a two day, three table event in June, and a two table event tomorrow. I didn't host in July because a lack of players. Too damn busy!

I also cannot host again until October. That is because I have to work all of the damn Wolverine games. I hate college football.

Just starting out, I like it. Don’t worry though, you’ll get some good numbers eventually!!
Quality over quantity. I bought and sold at least 8 other sets (that I can remember) over the past 4 years.

Some people recently realized it might be a bad idea to post pictures of stacks of cash and drunken professionals playing with dildos.

Pretty much.

But yeah, I think we're at another saturation point until the next set of pretty THC Paulsons comes along.

At this point, I'd be more excited by a massive new hoard of BCC chips being found or by @Split or @EmptyPocs opening their BCC vaults than I would by another NAGB.

Nothing excites me anymore. The sets I'd be willing to pay for are sets I don't want - pretty much anything made in the last 20 years. The sets I want will always come with price tags that are silly, regardless of market conditons. So it doesn't matter what gets found or produced or what - I'm basically a spectator. But it's still fun to watch.

This thread 100% did not need any revival.

Answers haven't remotely changed.

Things are being sold privately. Everyone wants sell high buy low. Everyone continues to collect more and sell less. Only times the max desired chips hit classified is for a higher than historical amount of money.

And stuff sits/it's a buyers market because everyone is selling the same things and overpriced.

If you want the good stuff you better a) have lots of patience and/or money to throw at it, or b) make friends with the right people.

I think Tina options have taken up a lot of the $1-2/chip RHC demand and the last 2 NAGBs have taken up a lot of the $10/chip mint THC demand.
