State of the Current Union/Chip Buying Advice (3 Viewers)

Did you win money before we showed up, or did the 2 margarita pitchers beat you again?
+500 at the start of the last hour, ran like dog doo in the last few pots I played. Finished the last hand +150, lost a hundo in the good-night flip and tipped the rest to Craig.

In for 1500, out for 1500. Considering how that game was playing and how much of those two pitchers I drank myself (along with several other devilish Ashlyn concoctions), I'm calling that a win.

I think that already happened in Dallas. We played poker together and felt jealously and resentment, and I felt heartfelt pity for him. Every time he stood up and looked outdoors and mumbled “storms coming in, gotta get the corn seed laid” it was just sad.
Nothing says true love like mutual pity. You two are a match made in heaven.

^ thinks butter comes from apples, knows literally nothing about fruit or vegetables unless they grow beneath the ground.
Point for @Josh Kifer here. Apple butter is a thing, and it is amazing.

I have the feeling chip pricing is on the decline and plenty of sets sit for a long time in the classifieds.
No more feeding frenzy and that is a good thing.

€ to $ is horrible atm so EU gets a 20% price hike besides an energy driven recession and double digit inflation…

I agree with you on this. There have been plenty of sets that have sat in the classifieds and don't get swooped up as quickly as they did last year or even 2020. There was an insane amount of hype over sets and we were seeing prices we had never seen before. I think those prices will come back later at some point, but not in the near future.

Inflation is crazy, fears over a recession, people don't have as much money to spend as they did with stimmy checks, stock market frenzy etc. so prices will decline for now (I believe). I might be wrong, but that's how I see it. Those that have sat and accumulated some spare cash and see chips for good prices or prices at a discount from highs should be happy. Try to swoop up as much as possible for the right price and be happy with chip purchases.

There's been a few times in the last few months that I've thought about possibly selling some more racks after my summer cleaning sale, but there isn't any point to do it now. Same thing goes with my stocks, crypto and more. I've thought about it, but there is literally no reason to do it. Now is the time to get MOAR of everything at discounted prices and just let them sit and grow. Sure chips aren't the same as stocks and crypto, but it can be used as an investment if you'd like to think of it in that way. (this is not financial or life advice, just my thoughts :))

Why all the negativity, Oscar??? I’ve been hearing everything is going Grrrreat!!

There are still some chips selling for INSANE amounts... just chips that we would have never expected to a while ago. New wave or new hype coming soon?

Not sure.

Seems lately like a lot of AS/ES and Jacks are up for sale. Maybe it means nothing except that enough time has passed that owners of those chips are ready to move on. Or that I’m still not being invited to participate in new group buys...

Very interesting indeed. So I guess the state of the union is that certain chips in small quantities are transacting at nutty prices, while most other (NAGB) high priced chips aren't.
