@detroitdad, I finally picked up a bottle of Wild Turkey 101. Really good. I like it straight, it's good in an old fashioned. I do not like it with ice, at all.

bulleit rye is fantastic strait up.
So this stuff was recommended to me by the guy in the store. Plastic bottle! Definitely qualifies as cheap at $18 for 1.75l

What's the verdict?
It’s surprisingly smooth and very palatable on the rocks. I definitely recommend giving it a go.

But we are dumb red necks! We just pass the bottle!! For the price this is excellent, other than it's a bit too smooth creeps up on ya quick!!

When I poured it out, the color was light. It just looked thin. The smell was heavy ethanol and faint bourbon.
It was a neck pour, and I've learned not to trust those. (I just had my second Michter's Rye tonight. Did not care for the first. The second has been wonderful. I just don't get it?) It was ok. $18 for the bottle. I don't have much under $20 a bottle. This I like better than the Evan Williams Bottled in Bond.

I bought a bottle of the Rebel Yell when the local place had It for $12. I did not like it at all.
Are you saying the Michter’s is better than the EW BIB (which I've never had)? One place in town has a couple different Michter's, but not the Michter's American Whiskey, which I hear is really good.

I got a Michter's Rye for $35 from my Costco. On a whim. I thought my palate was rejecting ryes. But in hindsight, it was just neck pours. I need to try my Jim Beam rye again and reevaluate that too. I thought it was ass.
I think you meant the Rebel Yell better than the EW BiB. I liked RY basic more than EW BiB yes. I hear the Rebel Yell 100 proof is better.
