COVID-19 (Corona virous) and your home game? (6 Viewers)

i actually think if people think we over reacted and it wasn’t a “big deal” that means the social distancing worked. It’s either going to be bad or really bad. Only time will tell.
Completely Agree DoughBoy - pointing to the “everything fine, we shouldn’t be quarantined” is a crazy backwards logic. Saw a great article from my favorite data analytics folks at fivethirtyeight

Agreed. It's downright dangerous. Good article. I suspect that whether we're doing the right thing will always be a point of political contention.
Unfortunately, the political contention will be ratcheting up now. It seems that things are starting to show that we will be able to contain things and some of the frightening projections will not come to pass. One side will claim that the other blew things out of proportion and ruined the economy, and the other will claim that measures taken prevented an even worse situation.

Evolution of our host's p.o.v. during the Coronavirus outbreak.

Early February: "The coronavirus threat is a joke. Democrats are using it to scare people."

Early March: "You have to be stupid or a pussy to take this virus seriously."

Early April: (Washington County has its first case of Coronavirus) "Hey fellas, this Coronavirus shit is getting too close to home. No games till further notice."

True story.

Lots of good education making the rounds on statistics and their meaning, which is great! Thinking that the next big education wave in the United States is going to concern our Constitution and the relationship between the Federal Governmemt and the States.

Mrs Zombie was looking at a plant that was outgrowing it's container.

Mrs Zombie: "I',m going to need your help moving this into a big pot"
Me (excitedly): "REPOT!"

I miss poker.

On the street we take our kids to the beach there is a home owned by a couple that works in gardening and they use their yard as a plant nursery. Their license plate is ”REPOTME” I laugh every time either because it reminds me of Omaha or it also looks like an invite to repossession.

Everyone must be getting antsy. Was surprised how many people wanted me to run a game yesterday and today

Living in a remote area faraway from urban centers in a State that is working aggressively to stop the spread of Covid-19 reduces the chances of us having an outbreak here. Despite my sentiment, I have completely changed my behaviors, only going out for necessities during the time of week when traffic is low.

I keep abreast of the State's daily updates on the spread of the virus, number of active cases by county, etc. I am in tune to the fact that this is a stressful time for everyone, especially for those in areas where the virus has taken hold. I consciously made the decision to actively participate in the two home games I am a part of through the pandemic as long as the number of reported cases remains near zero.

Washington County reported its first and only confirmed case of Covid-19 last week. Upon hearing the news, the host of the weekly $50 tournament shut down his game until further notice. The host of the small low stakes cash game, which I provide the poker chips and playing cards for, moved shortly after Christmas. We played our first game at his new place two weeks ago. He held his second game last night. Five players confirmed, four showed.

Stakes: .50/$1 Games played: NLHE, NL Omaha-hi and Crazy Pineapple.

Cast of Characters:

Mr. Go Big or Go Home is a big fan of "Live at the Bike" and believes his game is above reproach. He usually loses $60 to $150 a session. Every five or six games he will win $100 to $200+.

Villain 2 plays his cards and not the player.

Villain 3 is a decent hold-em and CP player, but a lousy Omaha player. He has a really hard time letting go of top two.

The host: He is always watching the action and taking mental notes, and he hates to lose. He is capable of making big folds, correctly, but is somewhat averse to taking risks in multi-handed pots.

Villain two is flush with cash this evening and tells the host he would like to play with the blinds set at .50/$1 instead of .50/.50. He buys in for $47. Villain three buys in for $40. Hero, the host and Mr. Go Big buy-in for $30.

-- Hero broke out the DDM chips for tonight's game. --

Shout out to Kristil @BR Pro Poker. Wonderful job! Players like them and we had no issues with dirty stacks. Colors are vivid and bright and they stack nice.

Hero is off to an early start. (Playing commenced at 8:15.)

Hero continues to run good. These last two pictures were taken around 11:30.

We played without electricity until quarter to two. Hero felted Villain two the last hand of the evening with the nut flush versus second nut flush.

In for $30, out for $362.

Most of us are actively doing our part to prevent the undetectable spread of Coronavirus. Every single scientist - all of them - recommend eliminating all (that includes poker games) non-essential events.

I'd be surprised if you gain many fans posting a poker game, thus increasing the likelihood that the rest of us should remain in isolation longer because you believe you know more than every single scientist in the world.

Played our first STT on P* and Zoom last night. Seven runners, three rebuys, 2.5 hours of play. It went much more smoothly than I expected.

I've flipped back and forth several times between 'irresponsible moron' and 'fucking idiot' in my response, before finally deciding to utilize the block function instead.

You just can't fix stupid.

We are talking about an individual who once took a trip to the Cincinnati Public Library in order to find proof that the U.S. Playing Card Company was placing swastikas on their paranoid chips in the 1920s and 1930s for domestic sale to Nazi sympathizers.

I'm alright with stupid until it starts harming others.

We were planning to organize a homegame before the whole outbreak.

Belgium went into lockdown 5 weeks ago, several of the people who were supposed to be at the table are nurses or work in homes for the elderly.

All of them have at this point reached the breaking point when it comes to workload, physical and mental stress and the constant frustration of hearing people who "know better" advocate less strict measures or claiming it's a hoax.
2 of them have been diagnosed with Covid19 + a parent of my best friend + several other friends who have been diagnosed and/or hospitalized.

Do. Not. Fuck. Around. With. This.

It's not a hoax, it's not a political game, it's not an attack or any other conspiracy bs I've seen pop up.

It's a global health crisis. If you do your part, we can all enjoy each other's company at the table sooner.

For the record, I take the Coronavirus threat seriously. I buy groceries once a week early in the day when traffic is low. I still keep my business appointments, which have dropped off precipitously since the lock-down. I tune in to our State Government's daily CDC briefings. The State has reported two cases of Coronavirus for the county in which I live. One of the two contracted the virus in Florida. I do not know the details of the other case.

The fact of the matter is my decision to go play cards with a handful of people is in no way contributing to the community spread of this virus. Rest assured that if I lived in Nashville or Atlanta, I would not be leaving the house to go play poker.

In no way do I want to argue with you, but this statement is 100% false. This is exactly how it is spread in the community. You and your friends won’t know you have it until 5-14 days after contracting it, spreading it throughout the community the whole time. You do you. But don’t kid yourself, if anyone shows up to that game infected but asymptomatic the whole lot of you will end up with it. Live poker is the polar opposite to social distancing.

Exactly. Your decision to play cards with a handful of people is contributing to the risk to your community. As doughboy says, don't kid yourself, if even 1 person at that table even comes into contact with someone at that table beforehand, the virus is once again one step further...

Good news yesterday afternoon. Dr. Nirav Shah, director of the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention released the Coronavirus numbers for the State and its respective counties. He reported 31 new cases for the State, best of all, his declaration that the two cases in Washington County had recovered. In other words, no active confirmed cases.

I felt like celebrating, which is why I said yes to playing when I got the call that the group wanted to get together for cards. Being stuck at home with nothing to do, they were itching for a little excitement. With the Trump checks, that meant playing $1/$2, $100 minimum buy-in.

Picture taken shortly after Hero doubled up with double suited Aces in Omaha.

UTG short-stack shipped his last $15 blind. $62 in the pot, action on Hero from the BB.

Hero makes it $82 to go and gets one caller. $209 in the pot.

Hero hit his diamond flush draw on a K,J,5 flop. Villain nailed top two.

Hero bets $80 Villain moves all-in. Hero calls for $190.

Turn card, a four, giving Hero an inside straight draw. River card, three of diamonds!

In for $200, out for $900.

Hopefully, my irresponsible behavior doesn't create 30 Coronavirus cases in Atlanta.

Nothing has made me think CRINGE instantly when looking at anything on PCF. Ever.
I’m sad to say I can no longer make that claim.

And ignored. You are making a mockery of tens of thousands of American deaths. Like I said before, you be you, but to be flippantly posting pictures of your game bragging how you won’t infect people in Atlanta is just ignorant and unwanted.

Yes... celebrate the fact that recorded victims in your state are limited by increasing the risk for all parties involved. Class act dude, class act.

According to the best information available to the CDC, no one has died from the Coronavirus in Washington County and more importantly, the two cases they identified have recovered.

What is the basis for your assertion that I am "increasing the risk for all parties involved?"
