Have we finally reached market saturation?? (7 Viewers)

And because we all know all Barrie does is stand on his soapbox, at the risk of repeating myself:
  • Library cards tracking chips would be amazing.
  • Posting what chips sold for when closing, amazing.
  • Posting the original thread where you purchased chips on a for sales listing, amazing.
  • Not erasing the entire history of your pricing or sold price, amazing and I feel like should be a normal requirement.
  • Lastly, someone posting most recent closed or open threads in a comment of a sales thread shouldn’t be considered “crapping”, and instead lauded. In fact a bot that did this automatically would add an amazing level of transparency and tracking.
Maybe it can’t be done anymore and would’ve needed to be installed and accepted years ago.

Idk, but if no one wants to discuss this, try to figure out how we could get community feedback and install the popular ideas, etc., then there’s our answer. And unless something like this occurs, it’s never going to go back to where it was, and instead will continue towards whale hunting and everything good going more and more private.

Which I’m not saying is a bad thing, just a natural progression.

:D The main reason why entry level set are slow in selling compared to 2-3 years ago is

TINA

They tick a lot of the newbie wanted boxes

But personally I think Clay & Premium Plastic sets last longer and able to stand the test of times. If I can, I will like to keep all my collection but sometime u just have to sell some to make rooms

Right. Why buy a real clay RHC set from a boring casino when you can get a flashy ceramic knockoff of a GOAT set?
Honestly, I might have fallen for that when I started.

Is that like buying fake LV wallet or purse?

Honestly I started thinking like that too and done the same for BTP once I realise how F ing stupid expensive the real clay BTP cost.

But over the years, I find myself preferring Clay / Premium Plastic over the ceramic and sold all but 2 ceramic set (1 being the BTP as it one of the favourites and one of my first set / project in PCF and the other being a small ARIA tourney set which I kept for my yearly Tourney needs)

For myself personally, I don’t have room for all those sets trying up thousands and thousands of dollars, so I’m more likely to sell at a discounted price to make room for the next thing. The most disappointing part of that is hoping the items will go to people who actually want them, but it seems like the people who immediately reach out the most just want to throw them back up on eBay or in the classifieds. I guess if you have the means to do that then more power to you, but it still sucks for those that don’t. That’s nothing new though, it’s how most markets work.
Same. I don’t want a ton of sets at all. I honestly want two sets. One Ive had my eye on forever and is readily available and then one other that I’ve yet to decide. I have to ask more questions on the posts I’ve seen so I can get maybe more samples. I’m actually ok with having a ton of different samples just have different chips.

Brah, you're here now, let us help!

Share with us, what is this set you've been eyeballing for forever?

And what might you be leaning towards as a 2nd set?

don’t think it’s necessarily difficult for a new member coming in
It’s not difficult for Tina chips, but when I first joined I was PM’d several times by members trying to “help me” by selling in-stock TCR chips for a 50%+ premium. In a way that really did help because it put the brakes on and made me really think about what I wanted and what price I’m willing to pay.
I’m just wondering where it says anybody has to make things easier for new chippers
Nowhere. Not in my post. Not in @cbrig80 ’s. No one is claiming to be special either. Not sure why you got so worked up

Function, aesthetic, feel. If you want all 3 you’ll pay more. If you prioritize the first 2, Tina chips are perfect. Clay feels better than ceramic for sure, and to some it feels 100x better so they’re willing to pay up. To me, it feels at best 10-20% better and is not nearly as important as function/aesthetic.

Lol yeah I do remember that. I even wrote about it years ago as well. Plenty of “stand up long term pcfers” who are scummy but it doesn’t count because it’s only to “new chippers”. Luckily the majority of folks are legit.

It’s also less visible since it’s in a PM.

Nope, never. Make mental note and move on.

No one cares about your feelings or your proof, and besides what did they do besides try and make a $ off an unsuspecting member. Nothing illegal or against ToS there.

Just find your people here over time and that’s your trusted group.

Edit - I would guess as to the 2 cardinal sins at PCF being 1) intentionally scamming the forum and stealing money, and 2) posting PMs publicly.

I thought similarly shortly after posting. You’re too quick   since you can see that I edited that out of my post and there’s no time stamp for the edit

It's a totally fair question my guy, no doubt. And diff places would probably look at it differently, but yeah pretty huge no no here. Lol to give you an idea of how much of a no no, even I have never done it  :ROFLMAO:

First set is a rounders set from CPC just bc I’ve been into the film since it was first released and it’s one of those things I just have to do.

Second set, no idea, that’s why I am here, getting samples and need to speak up on chips I see people posting to find out where they got them from or if they’re custom etc.

Great set and you may keep forever!

Not sure if you see one out there or thinking about an order. BUT, if I had to take a guess I'm guessing you could grab one from someone for quite a bit cheaper than direct from CPC. Maybe not, but I would absolutely guess that if you're selling chips that can be made new, you better sell at a loss to move em. And plenty of people have bought those and moved on, so there should be quite a bit out there potentially.

I say this with 100% sincerity, f**k samples. I don't get it, what is shuffling a couple of chips gonna do for you? I don't look at magazine cutouts of cars to pick a car to buy.

If you can, attend a meetup or see if you have a local chipper by you. Then you'll get to see and play with entire sets. Do you love the weight of those, are you a mint guy or do you like chips broken in just enough to shuffle smoothly. Do those stupid california west coast colors make no sense, or are you loving the vibrant $$$. Maybe you become smitten with a set.

Funnily enough, I bought an entire set from my first meetup. One of my favs ever and I'm always trying to find another Mardi Gras v2 set.

And if nothing else and you're still sitting on the sidelines, hmu after we move to NH. You jump over state lines and will have samples and sets to play with, and a meetup.

(but like for real, grab samples. lol it's great to help learn and figure out what you like)

There was a great CPC rounders tournament set for sale a couple of weeks ago at a good price! You might be looking for cash though.
