Have we finally reached market saturation?? (3 Viewers)

I don't like test driving cars because you can't keep it! Anyways I bought a car from a meetup after I test drove it.

Does anyone sell customized poker chips ? Like with a business logo on the chips or even the case ? Please dm me

Honestly, I think it does feel like we’ve reached saturation/some sort of equilibrium where most people rather hold onto chips than sell at a meaningful loss. Those willing to spend larger amounts mostly have what they want. NAGB ads sit for longer, especially if they’re above original pricing. The TCR chip flippers keep bumping the same ads or close/remake/rename threads.

Hey, thanks for reminding me

It's probably already been said, but its interesting how the best premium chips are selling for more than ever, but there's practically zero market for low end Paulsons. It would be interesting to see what would happen if there were a chiproom release made up of only casino used RHCs. He'd have to offer them at 2016 prices and even then, I'm not sure they'd sell.

My hypothesis: it’s the Tina impact/distortion at the low to mid range, while the high end is experiencing reduced supply and similar demand.

For my perception, the new normal for a high end rack or per rack cost is $2k at the top.

At the low end almost any rack I’d be interested in is about $400 min, and normal cost per rack is around $6-$1300 for a set. Most sets I’d have interest in fall into that per rack cost range.

We’re not that large of a group, but the number of people willing to pay exorbitant premiums publicly for premium chips went from almost 0 to a couple to a handful to about 20+ folks now. Doesn’t take many to drive new normals.

Private deals, pms, etc. have simply become necessary. Buying publicly is a fools errand. That being said, I’d still happily buy several current sets in the classifieds listed around the $10k mark. Cause I love pain.

I dunno, I seem to recall $2k racks being a fairly regular occurrence back in the 2022 and WW era.

I’m wondering what a rack going for $1500 today would have gone for back then.

I feel like a lot of those classifieds were all created/built to catch specific whales though. That was when the “I don’t want to sell these, here’s my I don’t want to sell price” seemed to be born.

It was sellers almost openly saying “here’s a classified specifically to you 10 people who hate money”. And now that’s pretty much for anything worthwhile these days. In time, we’ve now ALL become the hunted whales.

Yes, that's the main reason entry level Clay market is suffering but I think it's just a bubble waiting to be burst.

Just like how China Clay is one time many many years ago and Tina Card mold of some sort in recent times.

Chips that you are able to buy in stock are always going to face this issue whenever something nicer in stock is come up in the market.

Example : Web Mold taking over Card Mold where Card mold value drop down a lot

I remember when PCA secondary $5 was around $8 a chip. Then when one person offered $12.50 a chip for 8 racks (he got at least 9 I know of) that immediately became the standard and seems to still command that price today.

It seems the folks confused the most by the current state of things are mostly all from the “profiteering” side of the hobby and not so much from the “I collected what makes me happy” side.

Some of us just enjoy getting together with other lovers of their chips for a few days of competitive card playing, some good food and a few laughs. I’m not sure if the hobby was supposed to be anymore sophisticated
than that.

I know people who turned down huge offerings for their sets and or collections and they seem perfectly content with that decision.
There’s not much confusion to some of us about all this confusion, a rather large and more recent contingent from within shot its own self in the foot.

To the ones sitting there with a pile of chips not worth the money you spent on them, ya did it to yourselves and it started when you sold any and everything to one whale willing to overpay you.

What do you think will happen when this bubble bursts?

Isn’t this just the majestic star sale?
Yes, I’m wondering how a sale like that would go today. But now that you mention it, I’m not sure how that sale went. I know there were some mint hundreds which were snapped up quickly, but I didn’t pay much attention to how the beat up chips were selling.

The resellers would bury them out, then charge 2x-3x a few months later.
